A Snapshot of Our Favorite Memecoins on Base

things change quickly, but with performance these past weeks we decided to do a quick roundup of some interesting Base memecoins and what they're working on.

0xbased

BTC surpassed and is still near an ATH, the meme markets are pumping, the golden bull that we were promised is upon us. Ansem is bullish on Base and Jesse is shaving his head now that Base eco has surpassed $10B TVL. And yet, it’s still day one one Base. 

First a bit of housekeeping. We’re kicking off our weekly roundup of BASED projects on Base. We’ve talked with the $BASED community and will be sending out XXM $BASED to randomly selected subscribers.

Now let’s kick off. With some major new listings by Coinbase and Binance we thought it would be helpful to dive into some of the key memecoins on Base. 

$DEGEN

With a mcap of over $450M, $DEGEN is the largest memecoin on our list, and the most established with regard to infrastructure and platform. $DEGEN launched in January 2024, and initially aimed to boost participation in the Farcaster protocol by rewarding users who contribute content to the platform, particularly in the degen channel. It employs a unique tipping system that empowers the community to reward quality content creators. DEGEN also powers the DEGEN chain, one of the pioneering Layer 3 solutions launched on Base, though there has been some controversy recently in their infrastructure for the L3.

Recent Developments:

  • Exchange Listings: DEGEN has been listed on major exchanges, including Coinbase. Additionally, Binance Futures introduced DEGEN perpetual contracts with up to 75x leverage.

  • Community Engagement: The DEGEN community remains active on platforms like Warpcast, where users share trading experiences, discuss market trends, and participate in events.

$HIGHER

$HIGHER is sitting a a current mcap of $52M as of writing with a gain of 20x since cycle floor of around $2.5M just a month or two ago.

$HIGHER, like $DEGEN is a community-driven memecoin with a strong presence on Farcaster that embodies a lifestyle of striving for greatness, authenticity, and creativity - and ultimately going HIGHER.

Recent Developments:

  • Community Expansion: The Higher Party is growing, with membership NFTs available for purchase. Funds from these sales are allocated to enhancing liquidity and providing grants to support the Higher community.

  • Aethernet AI Agent: The HIGHER team launched Aethernet as a participant in the /higher channel on Warpcast. It has since raised over $100k in funds from membership mints and donations and continued to evolve. Hop in, subscribe and have a conversation with Aether to learn more.

  • Creative Engagement: The community actively participates in creating and sharing content that reflects the Higher ethos. Platforms like makehighermemes.com offer tools for designing and sharing memes, fostering a collaborative and creative environment.

$ CHAD

CHAD is currently sitting at around a $16M mcap, is in price discovery and up solidly from it’s floor of the recent range around $500k. The $CHAD memecoin was launched on Base, drawing inspiration from the Chad wojak meme, which is one of my favorites and IMO represents an archetypical based person.

The $CHAD token was introduced through a fair launch, with liquidity locked for 69 years and no team tokens, emphasizing a community-driven approach.

The project is actively engaged with its community through platforms like Warpcast and X.

$MIGGLES

$MIGGLES was on an absolute tear the past week, fueled by the general memecoin surges, but also a PFP change and the removal of a disclaimer that the team is not associated with Base or Coinbase.

At a current mcap of just over $150M, it is another token that is in price discovery and up about 10x from it’s recent lows. You can still claim 10 MIGGLES by joining their telegram chat. See more details at the Flooz.xyz link below. MIGGLES launched in August 2024 just after Coinbase shared a video featuring the Himalayan cat.

Mr. Miggles ($MIGGLES) is a community-driven memecoin on the Base blockchain, inspired by a viral video featuring a Himalayan cat named Mr. Miggles enjoying treats. This video, shared by Coinbase, led to the creation of the $MIGGLES token, aiming to empower creators across various domains, including musicians, artists, and content creators.

Recent Developments:

  • NFT Collection Acquisition: In August 2024, the $MIGGLES community acquired a 10,000-piece Miggles NFT collection, marking a significant milestone as one of the first major NFT collection acquisitions by a community takeover project.

  • Partnerships: The project has established collaborations with various partners to enhance its ecosystem and provide value to its community like a partnership with Titles.xyz to develop the 'Mr. Miggles Machine,' a custom-trained AI model. This tool allows users to create unique Mr. Miggles-themed content, with top creations receiving Miggles NFTs and tokens.

$TYBG

This is a fun one because not only is TYBG one of the earliest and most niche meme coins on Base, but they have a standing bet with Jesse, the creator of Base that he will shave his head and join the bald disciples when Base TVL surpassed $10B TVL - which happened on Nov 14th. With a current market cap (as of writing on 11/15) of $35M and a range bottom of around $6M, this community and token look promising particularly in the short term.

Community Developments:

  • Token Launch: $TYBG was stealth-launched with a total supply of 125 billion tokens and no team or presale allocations, emphasizing a fair distribution model.

  • NFT Collection: The Base Gods NFT collection was introduced, allowing community members to own unique digital assets that contribute to the project's lore and culture.

  • Based Bald: Jesse accepted a challenge by the Based God to join the Bald Disciples when Base TVL crossed $10B.

$BASED

The namesake meme token of the network, $BASED was launched as a free claim to anyone that had the Base Introduce NFT - one of the first NFTs released when Base officially launched. It had massive distribution at launch and has retained a value between $1M-$2M mcap over the last few months. In terms of upside, this one obviously has room to run if more folks jump into the ecosystem. As one of the most used terms in and around the ecosystem, BASED and it’s mission to support based people and projects is sure to see some more adoption in the coming months.

Upcoming Launches and Partnerships:

  • BASED has developed a partnership with 9dcc to develop some high-quality based apparel for anyone to purchase. Designs are in process and should be launching soon.

  • The Based People NFT collection is being designed and will be launched for anyone to purchase for 1M $BASED mint price.

  • This newsletter 0xbased will be featuring BASED projects from around the Base ecosystem. We will be experimenting with different distribution and minting mechanisms on base and airdropping $BASED to randomly selected participants in the coming weeks.
