It’s Memecoin season and it truly feels like the only thing everyone is talking about right now is dogs and frogs. Memes are my favourite topic and past time so here's a collection of the best memecoin related news to pass my desk.
🐶👒 The hat stays on (the blockchain) forever!
WIF (Dog wif hat) was born from an internet meme of a Shiba Inu dog literally with a pink-knitted hat and this week the original photo of the dog wif hat (that started it all) was sold on chain for 1,210 ETH ($4.3 million) so now the hat stays on (the blockchain) forever!
🐳 Whales buy up big ($PEPE)
Last week two whales have collectively purchased 560 billion $PEPE between them showing the bullish potential of the iconic frog 🐸 and the potential to see way more gains in the near future.
💸 The digital (meme) gold rush
And Avalanche Foundation announced last Friday that they are launching Meme Coin Rush, a mining incentive program with $1 million liquidity, with the hopes of boosting the memecoin ecosystem on Avalanche. Avalanche Foundation will hand out rewards for providing needed liquidity for memecoin trading pools on certain DeFi platforms. Like a modern day gold rush!!
🚀 SOL GOES HARD!
Some people are benefiting from all of this meme action as the Solana network SOL is up big! Which goes against the current downward market trend. You can learn more about the future of Solana by watching the replay of our last AMA.

👋🏼 C'est la vie Starbucks Odyssey:
Starbucks says farewell to its NFT loyalty program Odyssey. Starbucks launched two years ago after the over-hype of the NFT bull run, announcing their Web3 activation by expanding their Rewards loyalty program into web3, integrating NFTs and the blockchain. This was deemed a success and was well received by fans. Their reason for ending the project is unclear only explaining the company is looking to prepare for what’s next and “to evolve the program.”
🧐 Are NFTs so back?
This month not one but two Cryptopunks have been sold in recent weeks for well over 16 mil. Leading us to believe that NFTs are so back..
So what do you think do these massive sales signal that the market for NFTs is ready to go?!
📉 Market news:
🙅🏼♀️ Inflows = over
The 7 consecutive days of consistent positive market inflows have been broken. With digital asset investments seeing $942M in outflows just last week, which sets a new weekly outflow record.
This is said to be due to investor hesitancy but we will defiantly be watching to see what happens next 👀
