Web3: The beginning

Issue #000 - Buckle up

The journey begins - courtesy of NightCafe

The world of Web3, blockchains, NFTs and cryptocurrencies is foreign to many. You've heard the various terminology used, I'm sure, yet don't understand what this all means. You've probably also heard the many negative stories surrounding crypto - the collapse of FTX (a major exchange) being one of the more recent and most public. Or, all of the "scams" that are reported by the mainstream media.

The fear factor is high. But, as with much else that we do in our everyday lives to secure and protect ourselves, exercising some common sense, along will following some simple guidelines, will go a long way to ensure that you remain in control of your experience. And that it's a positive one, filled with many opportunities.

My hope with this newsletter is to demystify this world and show how you, the creator, can get involved and benefit. And be in no doubt, the world of Web3 is the future for the creator.

Each week in the newsletter I will highlight one aspect of Web3, do my best to explain it simply and provide some examples.

I will also provide links to articles that also talk about the topic I've covered. None of this is new - I'm simply bringing it all together as a one-stop shop, if you will.

And, there will be links where you can do further reading or take courses, and to other newsletters in this space. After all, we are all in this together - one big family 🙂

Welcome, to my newsletter - All Things Web3. I hope you find something of value.

I intend to publish this newsletter each Thursday. The first issue will come out later this week.

Please feel free to leave me any comments. Good or bad, I'm not precious. Constructive would be helpful, but you do you 😀

Until next time.

P.S. What is that Collect button at the top?

A concept I am yet to explain but is foundational to Web3 is Collecting. Think of it as the Like button for Web3. But, also much more.

When you like a post, you are signalling that you agree with the author and are happy for people to know. When you collect a post, in Web3, it sends a signal that this post both resonated with you and that you support the author and the message. You are committed.

By collecting you reward the author, usually financially (more on this in an upcoming newsletter).

Feel free to collect this post by clicking the button. It's free. You will have to connect your wallet though. If you don't know what that is yet (coming in a newsletter soon), that's fine. Leave me a comment and keep reading 😀
