Hackathons

Integrating web3 technology can be challenging if it does not meet the minimum demand criteria for widespread adoption. Hence, hackathons play a crucial role in boosting their significance by onboarding developers to create impactful projects with everyday applications.

ETHGlobal Lisbon 2023 is a hackathon that brings together experts in the Ethereum Ecosystem. In this event, developers are provided with resources, mentors, sponsors, and software to create solutions catered toward increased adoption of web3 technology.

ETHGlobal Lisbon Hackathon, held last May 12-14, 2023, brought together over 975 hackers with 183 innovative projects submitted. The hackers competed for a $275,000 prize pool from participating ecosystem partners including 1inch Network, Worldcoin, Optimism, Polygon, Gnosis Chain, and many more.

Judges, mentors, and keynote speakers from different industries come together to share their knowledge during the hackathon's talks and workshops. You can watch them here.

A total of 10 projects were chosen as finalists and they are:

  • Credential Corgi - creation of certification standards, issuance of ZKP-compatible certificates, and request-proof exchange.

  • Dookies - anonymous, ZKP-based, incentivized data analytics and tracking for all users.

  • buddy - a Tinder-style app on Lens for developers to find hackathon partners.

  • LocalPro - brings on-chain verification & incentivization to local offline work

  • CryptoBureau - under-collateralized lending with ZKP.

  • Pinky Protocol - peer-to-peer collateral-free NFT lending protocol, leveraging account abstraction.

  • Web3-gpt4 - web3 GPT-4 simplifies smart contract deployment.

  • Donation Station - allows users to donate using their favorite L2.

  • ChainGPT - decentralized & verifiable chat AI.

  • op-kompressor - decompress call data at runtime to save L1 gas while transacting on L2s.

Another notable project is this disposable, prepaid crypto card to aid in Bolivia's banking crisis using cryptocurrency.

Conclusion
