Base Colors are intended to be more accessible than most successful NFT collections from a price perspective. They can be minted on Base for just .001 ETH (~$4 USD inclusive of fees at the time of writing). This is important because we believe crypto is a global movement in which people from every country and every economic class should be able to participate. There are enough Base Colors available at a low enough mint price that millions of people should be able to own a color. This level of accessibility has only recently been made possible by Base (as well as other L2s and low fee blockchains) since the fees alone had previously made NFTs inaccessible to many from a price perspective.
With 16,777,216 NFTs available, Base Colors is explicitly not intended to mint out quickly like most popular NFT collections. It is not a project for insiders to mint within minutes and then sell on secondary markets for a profit. Ideally, it will be possible for people to mint a Base Color for the initial price of just .001 ETH years after the initial launch of the collection. Of course, secondary sales of sought after colors with desirable names may begin selling for more than the initial mint price soon after the initial launch.
