#1. Built On Base! 🔥

Check out today's listing of onchain products on Base.

Hello there, and welcome to the first edition of Base Directory’s daily newsletter.

Every weekday, I’ll send you a concise email highlighting everything you need to know about an onchain product built on Base, what I think about it, and how you can get started using it.

This newsletter is still a work in progress for me, so there might be some experimentation with the first few editions. I kindly ask that you bear with me and share any feedback you think might be helpful.

Why a ‘Base Directory’ in particular? There are two reasons:

  • I strongly believe there needs to be more focus on consumer apps and products that are accessible to both people in crypto and early adopters in the mainstream. Alongside building these products, I believe there should be more curation and boosting efforts to make discovery easier for people.

  • I might be biased, but Base seems very aligned towards providing the infrastructure support required to build these products.

Today’s spotlight is on Bolide, a product that I’ve actively used these past few months.

Bolide.

Bolide is an easy-to-use app that makes it easy for anyone to speculate on memecoins launched on Base like DEGEN, HIGHER, BRETT, etc.

You don’t need to have a crypto wallet to get started; there’s a unique embedded wallet for users integrated within the product. It supports signing up with your email, Gmail, and Apple accounts, and there isn’t much complexity in using it.

The flow is pretty much this:

  1. Sign up.

  2. Fund your wallet with USDC on Base.

  3. Purchase memecoins using the USDC in your wallet.

It’s smooth, gas-free, straightforward and they have an excellent support team. Bolide is currently only available on the App Store.

To keep up with Bolide, you can follow them on X (formerly Twitter) and download the app here.

Some extra stuff:

  • I recently wrote an article contextualising the absence of numerous consumer crypto apps in the mainstream. If someone you know has ever asked why crypto doesn’t have that many apps, just share this with them.

Thank you for reading through. See you tomorrow!
