The Winding Down of a World Classroom

From the Dystopian Sci-Fi Department

As many of you are aware, AI (artificial intelligence) has become a thing. Indeed, services like Google have been feeding their algorithm your content for a long time. That was the "pay off" for making the service free. You didn't think Google actually cared about a basic "world good" did you?

It is one thing, though, to train an algorithm and an entire other to train up an AI which is being used now to make military decisions, medical care, and programming the future web. Usually, when grandpa starts hallucinating, you start thinking about putting him in a home. When ChatGPT does it, though, well, that's just that wacky AI! Nevermind that if it has a bad day and starts saying someone is launching a rocket attack that isn't there as per the movie War Games these "daydreams" have real-time consequence.

Content from the internet is being "fed" into this monstrosity, with or without the permission of the people on the internet. Since I never signed up to be "robot-brain-food" I am progressively winding down anything resembling "Free information" websites which in this case sadly includes my online courses that many of you have signed up for. Yes, the online courses are off the "main road" but since the software is implemented by the institutions culpable for creating and feeding this mess, I cannot say I trust it not to secretly stick its fingers into my content behind my back. That it is doing it to my copyrighted work all ready without permission is certain, but that is clearly a violation of copyright with which to begin. Big technology and Big government care nothing for the law, or rights, even though those same entities ballyhoo much about their own copyrights and properties.

I have put off this decision for some time, since I grew up and believed in an internet of free information and the possibility of it. I have come to the reluctant conclusion, however, that corporate greed has won the war of the wider internet and the only way to really be somewhat secure is to maintain your own self-hosted walled gardens and allow selective access to those people that one believes should have access.

Therefore, this newsletter will basically keep those of you subscribed to information available that I do not believe is "critical"--such as future books being published and so on. In other words, if I would get a bullhorn and shout it in a public square to people with varying motives and beliefs, I will place such content here. Otherwise, I am not gonna feed "Count Bot-acula" with my information without consent or compensation. My mind was raped enough when I went through public education. (and so was my wallet).

Make no mistake, this is Satan's way of being sure that unity is not easily achieved. The goal of AI is to replace human beings with dumb machines which take orders--at least in theory. Sadly, most human beings are not far above the grade of "robot" and so the big joke is to take all of their human generated content and trick people into not knowing whether they are speaking to a human being which is capable of realizing God, or simply a bunch of wires and capacitors that has been taught some fancy tricks. It's a joke on humanity, but then, what else is new since humanity has, in part, played the joke on itself.

Anyway, if you want to reach me personally, many of you have my email. There are ways to tighten up the security of that as well which I'd generally say is a good idea.

Try not to get eaten by demon-vampire-robots and until next time!
