Friday Update 6: Buttons

and a question of workflows

Vorcigernix aka Adam

Hello everyone,

I'm excited to share the latest updates from Blockenberg. Last week, we introduced a new feature - buttons. This was one of the requirements from the Developer DAO Academy and it makes perfect sense. After all, buttons are an essential part of website functionality. However, implementing them in a CMS is not as straightforward as it may seem. Many CMS don't have button functionality, leaving entire blocks of content static.

To address this, we've added buttons in their simplest form, allowing you to add a text and mark it as a button. However, it's up to the developer who creates the website to handle button functionality properly and assign the correct visuals. Fortunately, CSS has a handy functionality that allows you to select the first or second child elements, which can help with this. We are also planning to update the sample client with this functionality.

Another requirement was to enable workflow functionality like comments and approvals. As you know, we don't have accounts in the classical sense, as the account is a swarm of devices that remain anonymous. This makes it challenging to create such functionality natively. However, we are exploring options and would love to hear your input. One possibility would be to create a wallet gating functionality on top of the accounts and optionally mark one of the wallets as the main "publisher". This would create a sort of approval flow. Another option would be to outsource the functionality to existing software, with Notion being a preferred choice in the community.

Both directions are a significant investment of time, and we want to ensure that we pick the right one. That's where we need your help! What would you choose for your project? Do you need such functionality?

We're always looking for ways to improve and enhance Blockenberg, and your feedback is crucial in guiding our development. Thank you for being a part of our journey, and we look forward to sharing more updates with you soon.
