Video content is growing on Farcaster, and Tap is experimenting with making it more discoverable and interactive. Inspired by TikTok-style scrolling, Tap is a Frame that lets you seamlessly browse trending videos casted on Farcaster.

What is Tap?

Tap is a Frame-powered video discovery tool that allows users to:

  • Scroll through a vertical feed of trending video content.

  • Connect their wallet (useful for upcoming tipping features).

  • View user profiles and navigate to the original cast within the client.

This project is still early in development, but the v2 Frame was recently released, and Dylan (@dylsteck.eth) is continuing to tweak and refine how content is filtered and surfaced.

Key Features of Tap:

  • TikTok-style vertical scrolling – Seamless browsing of trending videos.

  • Frame SDK integration – Connects to wallets, profiles, and parent casts.

  • Sidebar access for testing – Click "Video" in the Frame sidebar to check it out.

  • Tipping feature in development – Future ability to reward creators directly.

Why I’m Watching Tap’s Development

Tap is an evolution of Dylan’s previous Farcaster project, Cortex, which focused on search and AI-driven tools. The rebrand to Tap reflects a broader mission: making it super easy to find and do things across protocols.

I’ve seen video content increase on Farcaster, but discoverability is still an issue. Tap is an exciting step toward making video easier to find, engage with, and support.

With ongoing uncertainty around TikTok’s future in the United States, alternative ways to experience a decentralized, open video discovery tool could become increasingly relevant. A TikTok-style experience built on an open social protocol like Farcaster is an intriguing concept that could shape how video is consumed in onchain networks.

Right now, the filtering and feed logic are still being refined, and Dylan is focused on surfacing the most trending video casts first before expanding filtering options.

My Thoughts on Tap

Would I Use It Again?

Yes! I’m already checking in to see how Tap evolves over time. The experience still has some rough edges, but as filtering improves and tipping rolls out, I see huge potential for video engagement on Farcaster.

The big question: Will Farcaster video take off in a meaningful way? If so, Tap might become a key discovery tool in the ecosystem.

If you’re into onchain video, creator tools, or just want to explore trending Farcaster content, Tap is worth checking out. Let me know what you think! 🎥🔥
