Yesterday I was telling Tom about my daughter's upcoming birthday. He wanted to get her something special but was limited on time with the launch of Nounspace nearing. Initially, he figured he could just tip her some $DEGEN, but then he reconsidered, realizing that might not be the best influence. Remembering that she already has a wallet, I mentioned it to Tom. In a classic moment of Tom's innovation, he suggested something even better: why not mint her birthday card as an NFT?
We decided to create a unique NFT birthday card. Using her favorite things as a prompt, "Boba, birthday, mushrooms, rainbows, space themed birthday card" and out came a card adorned with a cup of boba tea, rainbows, mushrooms, and space designs. After a few tweaks to perfect it, we were ready to mint.
Guiding the Family: To help my family members through this new experience, I created a quick guide.
Download a Wallet: Use Coinbase Wallet.
Fund the Wallet: Send $20 of ETH to the wallet.
Use the Browser in the Wallet: Go to the collection using the provided link.
Mint the NFT: Follow the prompts to purchase.
Sign It: Leave a nice message and celebrate!
Success for this experiment would be getting 10 family members to sign up for wallets and at least 6 of them to mint the card and leave a message. The remaining NFTs would be minted by friends to make her day extra special and to further spark her curiosity about life onchain.
Feel free to mint yourself a card and be part of this OᑎᑕᕼᗩIᑎ ᔕᑌᗰᗰEᖇ Birthday Card experiment. All funds will go directly to my daughter and will remain onchain, making this birthday a truly unique and memorable experience. If the 125 cards are minted, that is 0.375 ETH (~$1500)!
This made me think about how gifting will work in Fidgets in the near future. The future is based and I'm here for it.
