I’ve been casting for 696 consecutive days on Farcaster, a decentralized social networking protocol, and it’s been a central part of my journey into blockchain networks. I was told by, Saxophone55.eth, the creator of the frame above, that I have the longest streak on the network.
For me, Farcaster is first and foremost fun but at times it’s a space for meaningful conversations, intellectual growth, and genuine human connection. It's the culture.
Farcaster feels more like a cocktail party than an MMA cage fight. Maybe more like a house party now. This isn’t just because the network is still small; it’s because of the shared purpose among its users. Many of us are builders, developers, artists, entrepreneurs and thinkers, all trying to will a new concept—blockchains—into mainstream existence. This shared mission fosters a sense of camaraderie. On Twitter, conversations often feel adversarial, where even when novel ideas need to be presented, they are presented as adversarial against something else. On Farcaster, we’re broadly aligned, working towards common goals, and that makes interactions more collaborative and constructive.
My Farcaster journey is a continuation of my blockchain journey. I dabbled in Bitcoin, played with ASIC miners, and tried my hand with CryptoKitties, but it wasn’t until the rise of NFTs that I found an application and community that I was deeply aligned with. I left my startup studio (check out Sanctuary and Bellway) to go work on NFT projects at TQ Tezos but always felt disconnected from the larger crypto ecosystem. Leaving Tezos, playing with Ethereum and discovering Farcaster, changed that. Farcaster became a space where I could not only engage with like-minded people but also show my work as a Builder. It was the place, where after providing proof of work, I was able to meet people like @jacob, who seeded the idea of using Nouns Builders to launch Purple and who along with LGHT has influenced a lot of my memetic onchain art and collectibles thinking. It was the place, where before Base launched, I got to meet @jessepollak and talk about L2s and now have a front row view on how to be a leader onchain.
Farcaster is still that place. Moreso then ever, since there are so many more builders doing many more things at the edge of computing. These interactions are more than just networking; they shape my personal and professional development.
The power of Farcaster is its alignment with the ethos of decentralization and ownership. Social media, the town square of the internet, should be open and free, not locked up on private servers owned by for-profit companies. With Farcaster, data is accessible to all, freeing it from the walled garden database of big social and free to experiment with distribution and monetization as they see fit. This aligns with the vision of a user-owned and operated internet—a principle that Chris Dixon discusses in Read, Write, Own.
Every experiment on Farcaster, whether it’s token-based projects like Moxie and Degen, rewards protocols like Rounds.wtf, apps, clients and integrations, gets us closer to that state. The open protocol of Farcaster makes this possible, ensuring that our collective internet conversations can evolve in a decentralized, user-controlled space.
Farcaster has completely shaped my journey, growth, and mindset. It’s not just about the daily habit of casting; it’s about being part of a community that’s actively building the future of the internet, one cast at a time. Here, new ideas and concepts are not only welcome but essential. Each cast is an opportunity to contribute to a larger conversation, to learn, and to push the boundaries of what’s possible in the crypto space.
In a world where social media often feels like a battle ground, Farcaster is a place where I can engage with optimism, share ideas without adversarial positioning, and work towards a future where the internet truly belongs to its users.

That was amazing! Are you living inside my head? I agree with and share so many of these same views and experiences. It is very refreshing to read this. It reminds me of why I came, why I decided to stay and what motivated me to do more with all these tools and wonderfully talented and creative minds. Recently I have found my purpose here and it feels great! I dont feel lost anymore and the people in Farcaster really stepped up lately to show me love and support! For that I will move mountains for you guys. 🫶🏼
Lead by example. If even half of us on Farcaster were as consistent as you, anything would be possible!

That’s historical Maybe you should stop your streak at this number
"Social media, the town square of the internet, should be open and free, not locked up on private servers owned by for-profit companies." "[Farcaster is] about being part of a community that’s actively building the future of the internet, one cast at a time." 🤝 couldn't agree more
good read👏 the consistency is commendable, farcaster is truly home.
I feel like I got to know you know you today
that was a great read ccarella loved the fact you never gave up and kept on trying multiple things until one clicked most of us tend to give up after putting an effort into something and it not yielding good output joined farcaster this year too and it a has been amazing so far, even though i’m not a builder or dev, i’ve still made connections with a lot of people here which will definitely one day pay off. keep showing up bro, going higher🫡💪🏽
Farcaster has shaped a unique journey over 696 days of casting within a blockchain community that values collaboration and innovation instead of conflict. The grassroots movement in decentralization presents new ideas, cultivates learning, and extends engagement. This post is by @ccarella.eth.
