A Publishing Platform for the Internet of Tomorrow

When considering digital publishing or "self-publishing," platforms like Amazon Kindle, Wattpad, Webtoons for manga enthusiasts, or even Substack or Mailchimp often come to mind . These platforms are known for driving the fan-fiction culture, blockbuster derivatives, anime, and other genres rooted in internet culture.
Most creators (myself included) aspire to reach and cultivate an audience with the hope that enough their work would eventually generate enough revenues to build something greater.

Self-publishing now stands as the most reliable and steady avenue to eventually grow and monetize one's content.

Web2 platforms provide content creators and readers with free infrastructure and tools, fostering a network effect by efficiently matching readers with relevant content globally in ways tradtional publishing will never be able to.

With the exception of the top 1-2% of published writers, having your own loyal audience can be exponentially more rewarding than traditional publishing, which not only struggles to match readers with stories but also takes the lion's share of all revenues.

Since most creators are cut out of the legacy system, it makes sense that internet culture has overtaken the trends, and traditional media is playing catch-up.

Creators used to be advised to build their own audience; now, it's a necessity.

Unless there's a "built-in" audience, even traditional publishers won't make an attempt, except for betting on current cultural trends. This holds true across all of entertainment.

Publishers and Hollywood were well aware that web 2 would disrupt their model. They foresaw that streaming, social media, and digital publishing would inevitably overtake them.

They chose not develop their own digital distribution channels because doing so would cannibalize their existing model.

  • Facebook, Feb 2004

  • Netflix (streaming) launched on January 2007

  • Amazon e-book publishing November 2007

  • Kickstarter April, 2009

  • But Disney+ ? Nov... 2019...

And it is happening again. Web 3 is now poised to disrupt the dominance of Web 2 and a new paradigm shift will emerge from it.

Web 3 is the era of digital ownership.

Web 2 enables creators to build their own audience, but "building" doesn't equate to "owning." Web3 represents a Copernican revolution: a subtle change in perspective that changes everything.

What do owning digitally even means?

Let me ask you this way... Who has the keys to your home or your car? Who has the keys to your [Instagram account] (fill in the gap with your favorite app)?

Who owns your following? Who controls your distribution and reach? Who can sell the links and access to your content? Who can use your data to advertiser? Is your Instragram following available to you when you reconnect on X? You built your audience, you may even have invested in growing it... Shouldn't you own it?

Digital ownership is something we have never experienced before and in 5 to 10 years it will be obvious. Will be wondering what was the world like before web3.

Those examples may appear trivial, and you may not currently view your Twitter or WhatsApp accounts as valuable assets. And truthfully, they might not be. (I am also avoiding the conversation of around money and cryptocurrencies...)
But maybe it is not valuable because you saw it as an ownable and investible piece of proprety like a house or a car...

But how does Crypto-Z change that?

What's New With Crypto-Z ?

Crypto-Z is a innovative publishing platform in many ways.
  • Ownership – in Crypto-Z your Profile and your Audience is in entirely yours and in your custody. You can find your relationships, conversations, build an audience and be able to reconsistute ALL of it on a different platform. Crypto-Z does not have access, ownership, nor control over your social graph.

  • Derivatives – If "accounts" (and their audience) are ownable, it implies they can be transferred. This suggests that these "characters" can amass a following and be leveraged in the future (for advertising, AI training, or by someone interested in further development), making them worth nurturing and expanding upon.

  • Monetization – Crypto-Z allows creators to earn 90% of all revenues generated by their content. We will keep experimenting with different models but creators will always receive the lion's share and retain ownership over the value they generate.

  • Distribution – Crypto-Z content is distributed over a web3 protocol, meaning that reaches audiences way beyond Crypto-Z itself.

Imagine if your story was distributed and monetized, globally across different publishers and distributors at once all linking back to your account, with no middlemen...

These are just examples of what is possible today! But I believe this is just the iceberg what the composable web will have to offer... For now I invite your to discover our first story: METAL MAN!
It is entirely FREE! I hope you enjoy!
