Particle Network: Accelerating Web2 Products to Web3 | Jam Review No.13

Jam Review No. 13 features Particle Network, a Web3 data and development platform designed to lower the barrier for Web2 products to enter Web3. Developers can develop scalable, multi-chain deployable and highly reliable Web3 mobile apps without the need to deeply master blockchain technology, while helping developers organize and structure on-chain data, and in this way helping developers build user DIDs so they can focus on product iterations and operations.

Particle Network just closed $1.8M in Pre-Seed funding last month, led by Longhash Ventures, with FSC, Insignia Ventures Partners, Cyberconnect, Monad Labs, Bitcoke Ventures, 7 O' Clock Capital, and a number of prestige individual investors.

Particle Network

What does your product do?

Particle Network is a cross-chain, cross-platform infrastructure for Web3, providing scalable, decentralized backends and a data platform for developers. This will lower the barriers to developing and operating Web3 applications.

What unique value does your product features bring in?

We want to allow game devs to focus on their strengths: to optimize the gaming experience and focus on user operations. There is no need to spend time fretting over the technical characteristics of different chains and how to develop attributes specific to them.

Our product is an all-in-one Web3 cross-chain, cross-platform development framework, with functions including authentication, wallet, NFT, and other Web3-native attributes. We will also provide infras like enhanced Node APIs for devs.

Here's an example of a traditional Web2 game that utilized our services: Merge Go is a high-quality 3D idle RPG game for mobile.

Using our auth services, we can help devs establish an on-chain user identity system in a way similar to Web2. It is familiar while also simple, fast, and secure, reducing the churn rate of new users and completely eliminating the insecurity of Web3’s current seed phrases log-in method.

Using our wallet as a service, end users can use the compliant legal currency to deposit and withdraw funds, swap in-game tokens for mainstream tokens such as USDT, and conduct transfers with other Web3 wallets.

With NFT services, devs can quickly upload in-game assets onto the chain, realizing NFT launchpad and NFT secondary market trading functions.

And also, our unified API allows devs to interact with different chains without needing to understand the technical intricacies of chain interaction. They will still be able to realize any read or write operations on the chain, improving their productivity greatly. After using these services, a high-quality 3D multi-chain mobile game similar to Axie Infinity launched officially in Web3.

Throughout this process, we can see that devs do not need to understand any Solana or EVM-specific technologies, but can still launch a cross-chain Web3 game.

What need/problem does your product meet/fix?

We want to target the issue that barriers to developing Web3 apps are too high, and hope to aid devs in developing Web3 apps more efficiently.

Being developers ourselves, we’ve faced these challenges personally. We have also interviewed a large number of developers who have transitioned from Web2 to Web 3, and have summarized four main challenges they face:

  1. First, it can be difficult to realize certain functions native to Web3 games and apps. These functions include Authentication, Wallets, NFT trading markets, and more.

  2. The second challenge is tackling multiple blockchains. Most devs believe that the multi-chain pattern will remain for the long term. It is tedious work to figure out how to launch services in EVM and non-EVM chains, and how to prepare game assets to transition from one chain to another.

  3. The third point we’ll address is its cross-platform capabilities. The future of Web3 games must be cross-platform. We will aid devs in launching mobile, web, and even PC products at the same time.

  4. Lastly, we will improve on game reliability. Security issues, especially in Web3, are an ever-pertaining problem for devs. Our goal is to act as a strong backend service platform for Web3 apps building, and part of that is ensuring the security levels of the games built with Particle Network.

How does your product set aside from your competition?

Our platform has two main competitive advantages: our technology and our team.

In terms of tech, we use MPC technology in our auth and wallet services.

The advantages of this technology are:

  • A natural cross-chain experience

  • Ensures absolute control of user assets: non-user parties cannot initiate signatures

  • Provides risk control rules similar to multi-signature on the chain, but without gas fees

Another technology advantage is that we build apps to be multi-chain and cross-platform. We are one of the rare development platforms that cover both the Solana ecosystem and the EVM ecosystem, all while supporting web and mobile ends. The other advantage we hold is our team background: we are game devs ourselves. We currently operate a social game platform and a mobile game business, with all apps developed in-house.

Our social gaming platform MiniJoy was one of the largest social gaming platforms in India by the amount of active users. Our mobile game business also sees excellent results. We have developed different types of games, including casual, mid-core, and heavy games. 10 of our games have ranked Top 10 in the United States App Store rank. Cumulatively, we have served more than 200 million users, of which 2 single products have more than 10 million daily active users. We have extensive experience with high concurrent server architecture and global node optimization.

Because we have done end-to-end game businesses, we have a deep understanding of the development demands of developers, as well as the real needs of the actual game business.

What’s your growth path in the short, mid, and long-term?

In terms of growth, we have launched all the services previously mentioned, and devs can see technical documents on our website and put them to use immediately. We cover the Solana and EVM chains, and web and mobile end so far. In terms of clients, we have selected some benchmark clients each in the following three scenarios: the metaverse, GameFi, and X-to-Earn. Our goal is to help them make better use of our development platform and launch products as quickly as possible.
