The youngest sibling, known as the Ceaseless Discharge, was turned into a monstrous entity, his body eternally engulfed in flames and tormented by ceaseless agony. His suffering is a constant reminder of the curse that befell him. The other sisters were also afflicted, their bodies distorted into horrific forms. Quelaag herself, though formidable and lethal, bears the weight of her family's anguish.
The Fair Lady, once a radiant and compassionate being, is now blind and frail, her body devastated by the chaos within her. She endures constant suffering, tending to the poisoned swamp and the eggs of her followers, who are also victims of the curse. Her only comfort is the presence of her devoted servant, Eingyi, and the occasional kind soul who offers her humanity to ease her pain.
All of this torment was the result of their desperate attempt to recreate the First Flame, a noble but ultimately catastrophic endeavor. Their mother, the Witch of Izalith, sought to kindle a new flame to ward off the encroaching darkness, but her efforts backfired, unleashing chaos and transforming her children into abominations.
As players, we are drawn into this tragic tale, becoming both witness and participant in their sorrowful fate. When we confront Quelaag, we are forced to slay her, not out of malice, but as a necessary step in our own quest. Her death is a somber moment, a reminder of the pain and sacrifice that permeates this world.
The Fair Lady, too, may meet her end at our hands, either through mercy or necessity. Her gentle nature and tragic circumstances make this encounter particularly heart-wrenching. We are left to ponder the weight of our actions and the suffering we have both witnessed and caused.
