Difference Agility

Difference is steeped in polarity, opposition, and distinction.

0 and 1. Newborns and Elders. Ocean and Desert. Venom and Medicine. High Noon and Midnight.

Think of difference and the above examples, as cosmic principles – before demoting them to human limitation and frustration.

Without polarity (difference) we have no attraction. Neutrality dominates, dullness and passivity sets in.

Without polarity present there is no need to stretch, to put forth effort. Situations become too easy (loose) or, too constrained (familiar, boring).

As a cosmic principle, magnetism is the energy expressed from activated polarity.

Polarity vitalized is connection-driven and regenerative. Fertility and creation is enhanced, not destroyed. Families, communities, nations, and societies are forged in difference and distinction, and from the magnetism expressed.

Difference agility – from this view – becomes a practice of increasing insight, wisdom and power to benefit many through building deep alliances with those not like you.

Becoming difference-agile additionally requires moving beyond curiosity, into the dedicated and delicate building of trust.

Communication at subtle and gross levels is now critical to progress.

This takes work – spiritual (inner life) grit to stay the course when inevitable conflict arises.

When accusations flare.  When your integrity and competency are threatened.  When attempts to “cancel” you and your contributions are imminent.

Humility and ferocious accountability, offering the first hand of reconciliation, is called for.

Making amends – not excuses – turns disaster into priceless information. Information as lessons hard-won, and uniquely tailored to dissolve confusion toward leading better next time.

When you’ve primed yourself as a founder/innovation leader to hold potent space for both conflict and agreement to coexist, without flinching, this is the initiation drop into becoming difference-agile.
