web3dom #39 - Preface for Moneyverse: how money works in the multiverse Paperback Edition

Fortunately, this book isn't about predicting coin prices, otherwise, it surely wouldn't be very persuasive.

Preface for Paperback Edition

About a year ago, I compiled and edited articles about decentralized finance, originally written for the ’Financial Freedom’ course, into a book. I whimsically titled it Moneyverse: how investment works in the multiverse and released it as an NFT, selling it on a small scale through my personal blog and partnership channels.

I'm grateful to Nowhere Publishing for bringing in professional editors, typesetters and designers to reorganize the content and give it a more fitting and scholarly new title, Moneyverse: how money works in the multiverse. It was not only produced as a traditional e-book for sale on major platforms but also printed in a limited number of physical copies for those who still cherish this traditional medium.

After publishing The Sociology of Blockchain: Reimagining Money, Media, and Democracy in 2020, I told my friends I wouldn't write another book. Yet, more than two years later, Moneyverse: how investment works in the multiverse was published. At that time, I said I was only publishing an NFT book as an experiment in decentralized publishing, and I wouldn't produce a physical version. I believed no publisher would be interested, and even if one was, there wouldn't be many people wanting to buy it. Yet, a year later, Moneyverse: how money works in the multiverse came into existence. Fortunately, this book isn't about predicting coin prices, otherwise, it surely wouldn't be very persuasive.

If being wrong means I can keep writing, I'm happy to continue making mistakes. I'm thankful for the trust placed in me and my work by Nowhere Publishing and the chief editor Annie Zhang, who chose my humble work as their first paperback book. Thanks to the editor Huang Runyu, designer Lau Yan Hin and typesetter Yiching; and last but certainly not least, you, the supporter of this book. The publishing industry is facing unprecedented challenges, and it's only with your support that I can continue to write and publish, one article and one book at a time. I am deeply grateful.
