2. Learning Record
2. 1 Checked the Website of the Affective Information Processing Lab
I browsed every paper related to the autism of the members of the lab. Ph.D. Tang is the only one who posts his publications on the websites. I send an email to ask Ph.D. Tang whether the datasets used in papers [1] and [2] are available for me to do some research. It was only five minutes after I sent my email that I received his reply in which he said that the dataset couldn’t be shared with others who don’t belong to his team in order to keep the privacy of the autistic children.
Furthermore, I found a member of this lab, Yuan Zong, working as a Joint Ph.D. student in Prof. Guoying Zhao’s group at the Center for Machine Vision and Signal Analysis (CMVS), University of Oulu, Finland. The CMVS released the Spontaneous Micro-expression Database (SMIC) which is widely used in research about micro-expression.
2. 2 Checked the Profile of Leyuan Liu
Professor Liu is interested in computer vision, pattern recognition, and supplementary technology for autism. However, he only does research about autism in the education field.
2. 3 Searched Autism Datasets
There are quite a lot of genetic datasets, EEG datasets, MRI datasets, and some static image datasets. Whereas my boss wants video datasets. None. The answer is none. Though some video datasets are mentioned and used in some papers, these datasets are not available to other researchers.
3. Feeling
3. 1 So So
It was neither happy nor sad. I just felt so so. As I did a lot of datasets searching but it seemed to be useless, which meant I make no progress during the last week.
