How much do you remember the advent of computers? When humanity sent people to the moon, a computer was a woman (why đ) running calculations using a lookup table. When Apple started pitching that âcomputersâ would be everywhere in the future (crazy right ), the internet wasnât even in the picture.
Nowadays grandparents video call their grandchildren. You can order anything by moving your thumbs. I probably donât need to tell you how useful computers have become.
Do you think itâs going to stop here? đ
15 years ago, someone created Bitcoin and with it, inspired millions to develop a new digital feature: trustless uniqueness.
People value uniqueness. We praise unique attributes or qualities, we might even call it a differentiator. A product's worth usually goes higher when fewer of them, and the currency we use to pay only works if I can't make more of it.
You can make 2 types of unique digital assets: the ones you can exchange 1 to 1 or split up and the ones you can't
Bitcoin is fungible, it means you can divide it, like money, or like a pizza. Of course, there's a limit on how much you can split a pizza, but the same goes for Bitcoin and traditional money, however, it's a reasonable limit
Other things need to be non-fungible, and in web3 they're called ... Non-Fungible Tokens, surprisingly đ A piece of art, a contract, a membership ... a lot of things are non-fungible! đ
What does that mean for the world to guarantee these properties online? It means software can finally eat the world. Your passport, your taxes, your job contract, your ownership titles, and your investments will all be just one click away.
One might argue it's already online, but you know why it's not a click away and definitely not instantaneous? Because in 2024, uniqueness comes from a centralised institution telling others your entitlement is valid
Once adoption spreads, you will be able to own a fraction of the land in all countries in the world and transfer anything to anyone without any censorship. Yes, it means the bad guys can also do it, but you know what? They currently do and you don't.
Ignoring a human breakthrough because of the potential risks is just being ignorant of history âą
Let's create a world where people don't have to think about currency, people don't have to drive to ask for a piece of paper, and people all have the rights and requirements when it comes to travel or financial tools! đ€©
This world is already here, it is just made illegal or slow by the legacy institutions. Join web3. You will find anything you like, anything you want, and people you align with.
Once your administrative life is on-chain, you can spend your time with everything else: family, love, nature, hobbies and dreams
