Flarnchain - Newsletter #154 - Unicorns

This week's market animal is a Unicorn 🦄

An Ocean of Knowledge, 1 Inch Deep

Welcome to the Flarnchain newsletter, a weekly newsletter about crypto and web3, but mostly about my art and projects that I'm working on (recently at least). Tonight (really this morning), I'm not going to cover all of the topics I normally would, because I spent FARRR too much time drawing unicorns . You see, there was an NFT collection that was "stealth dropped" today during the work day that was simply called Unicorns, and the collection was free to mint! I think if you logged in to the platform in time, you were allowed to mint 2 Unicorn NFTs for free.

Because I was deep in the fiat mines during the minting time (sometime around 1pm or 2pm) I missed the mint. I had known about the free mint for a while, and figured due to the timing, perhaps I could mint when I was no longer working. Well, even if I was sitting at my computer the moment the collection went live, there's a good chance I wouldn't get one. The collection minted out in a mere 56 seconds. There were over 2,000 NFTs in the collection, so that's a lot of transactions on the Stargaze blockchain in less than a minute. I'm impressed that the blockchain and the Stargaze marketplace front-end managed to handle all that traffic. I wasn't there for the mint, but it appears that it went off without a hitch, so that's pretty cool!

Here's one of my unicorn drawings, this is Proto Tower 278, Unicorn Proto Tower 2

Anyways, I have spent all night drawing unicorns instead of writing this newsletter, so I'm way behind schedule. I've been adding unicorns to my Proto Towers NFT collection, because I figured, if I couldn't mint one, maybe I can make a few? Also, I'm trying to ride that wave of euphoria regarding the Unicorns free mint, because the floor price of that collection is now around 1,000 stars (about $50 worth of Stars). So for people who minted today, they basically made a cool $100 (if they got two) for free! Who knows where the price will go, could crash, or could continue upwards.

Another reason why I'm drawing these unicorns is that it's my daughter's birthday tomorrow, and she really likes unicorns... and rainbows. I'd like to use some of the imagery created in these NFTs for something special for her.

This one is animated... obviously.

I think I should have probably spent more time and effort on just static unicorns and proto towers, because these animations always end up taking waaayyy too long and also they really fatigue my brain. Animating is pretty complex and time consuming, and I'm just not super skilled at it. I also don't really have infinite amounts of time

Long story short, I made a few unicorn drawings for the Proto Towers collection, and minted them tonight. I'm listing them around 500 Stars, so for people who couldn't get the Unicorns mint, maybe they can grab one of mine!

That's all for tonight, I'm way too out of energy for anything more than this.

Hopefully next week I will bring the regularly scheduled programming that everyone expects from the Flarnchain newsletter.

Have a good rest of your week!

Cheers!
