You are in a cult, you are in multiple. Cults are everywhere. Every tribe, family, brand, all cults. Start your own, now. The quickest way to get obsessed with something, to go deep into it, to turn every facet of your being toward the thing that the cult promotes. If you want to live life to the fullest, do it with a cult. Cults are the ultimate self improvement tool.
Every culture, civilization, is a cult. Every stage of humanity, from hunter gatherers, to global religions. Your favourite memes, technologies and even maths have had their own cults. You are not immune to cults. Cults are an operating system and you are hardwired to seek them out and join them.
Modern marketing exploits this. Brands aren't selling you products. They Are recruiting you into a cult. Coca cola is an actual religion in certain parts of the world. People worship bottles like a cross. The red and white logo, religious iconography. Every logo in the modern techno capital world is religious in nature. Online communities show people are lonelier and are being recruited. This is why the world is getting weirder, why people are becoming more extremist. Cults are accelerating.
Create your own logo, create your own aesthetic. Create a vision of a world on fire, an all-consuming idea of what could be. A bright paradise that will be a shining light. Keep it esoteric to stay niche, to make them curious. All cults need priests, from weird diets to weird clothing. Create rituals. Humans crave structure, routine, tradition. Give them something to anchor their days, weeks, lives. Let your followers recognize each other with these shared rituals. Now you develop a language. Every great cult has its own lexicon, its way of describing the world and every aesthetic needs its own signifiers. Tools for reshaping reality. When you control language, you control thought.
Not everyone can join your cult or deserves to. Make them work for it. Make them prove their devotion. The harder it is to get in, the more they'll value their membership. You don't need everyone, just a devoted few to take you to the ends of the earth. Don’t just create and join one, create and join many, all the time. Be a part of multiple cults.
