This week’s update is packed with the latest on our game development strategy and highlights from our unforgettable experience at the League of Legends Worlds Finals 2024 at the O2, hosted by Mastercard. Let’s dive in!

Our dev team is full throttle on the Solo Race Mode mechanics, laying down the framework to bring you a thrilling, high-speed experience where you’ll race against the clock and fend off AI enemies who’ll stop at nothing to cause a riot on the track! This sprint isn’t flashy—yet—but it’s essential groundwork to ensure every collision, boost, and speed shift feels just right.

We’re focusing on:

- Core movement mechanics like transitions from standstill to skating, building momentum to reach top speed, and gliding once you hit a good rhythm.

- Comprehensive moves such as jumps, ducks, barges, attacks, and leapfrog kicks and spins for a smooth, versatile character controller.

When we’re ready, we’ll be opening up a timed test course for our community to try out. With an emphasis on accessible, fun gameplay that skips the grind of AAA titles, we’re aiming for something fresh, lively, and true to our community’s tastes. Our team had the incredible opportunity to experience the League of Legends Worlds Finals 2024 live at the O2 in London, and it was nothing short of.... legendary. Here’s what made it unforgettable:

T1’s Record-Breaking Victory & Faker’s MVP Win 🏆

Congratulations to T1 for securing their fifth Worlds title in a breathtaking final against BLG! With the series stretching to five intense rounds, T1 came out on top, with the legendary Faker being crowned Finals MVP. Witnessing this historic victory live, alongside record-breaking attendance and viewership, was a testament to eSports’ massive impact on gaming culture.

Opening Ceremony Highlights: Ashnikko & Linkin Park 🎤

The Opening Ceremony was out of this world! Ashnikko set the tone with a fierce performance, and just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, Linkin Park’s new lineup surprised the crowd with an epic entrance to introduce the teams. Seeing this level of live production and artistry was thrilling, and our very own Hangry Andy captured it all firsthand on his phone—one for the memories.

Mastercard’s Insights on Gamer Loyalty & Exchangeable Value 💳

We had the chance to attend Mastercard’s insightful presentations on consumer trends and the future of experiences bringing revenues to cities across the globe as people take longer breaks pre and post-event to make more memorable moments. Mastercard’s data analysts showcased how to unlock new ways to use real-world rewards in exchange for in-game perks of their favorite games, and with Mastercard Gamer Exchange, players can now redeem loyalty points from major programs like Amazon as in-game tokens. This is a huge leap toward bridging real-world and in-game economies, and we’re inspired by the potential it holds for our charitable giving project.

Between matches, we had some invaluable conversations with Mastercard, ImagenPay, and other game studios in attendance. These discussions brought fresh insights to our Hangry Animals journey and opened doors to exciting new collaborations. We’re fired up to be building in this space with the support of new friends and collaborators, all rooting for success in gaming’s future.
