Greetings Hangries
It’s been an action-packed and fortnight week for us as we continue to make incredible strides in the Thirdweb Cohort 2 Accelerator Program. We’ve been diving deep into the world of blockchain and Web3 integrations over video calls, fine-tuning our game mechanics and having insightful discussions with some of the most innovative minds in the space. We're pretty Zen this weekend, like Marv here, after a jam-packed brain-expanding week.
In this week’s update, we’ll walk you through the key developments we’ve been working on, highlight exciting new technologies we’re integrating into the Hangry Animals ecosystem, and give you a sneak peek into the future of gaming and digital identity. So, buckle up and read on!
Exploring Account Abstraction with Thirdweb’s Smart Wallet & In-App Wallet Solutions
One of the most critical elements of creating a seamless Web3 experience for players is how they interact with blockchain-based assets in-game. This week, we delved into the world of account abstraction using Thirdweb’s smart wallet and in-app wallet solutions. These tools are game-changers, allowing us to abstract away the complexities of blockchain technology and make it as easy as possible for players to manage their digital assets.
The key here is to ensure that our players—whether they’re Web3 veterans or new to the space—don’t have to wrestle with complex private key management or jump through hoops to access their assets. Thirdweb’s smart wallet enables this by simplifying transactions and providing a highly secure way to interact with blockchain elements, all while offering the flexibility we need to build custom user experiences.
Moreover, the in-app wallet solution gives us the ability to offer players a native wallet directly within the Hangry Animals game interface. Players no longer need to switch between apps or external wallet services, which means a more seamless and immersive experience.
Discussions: Launch Strategies & Bridging the Wallet Gap
Our week also included some incredibly valuable discussions about the challenges and strategies surrounding game launch, particularly when it comes to player onboarding and wallet solutions. One of the hot topics was how to manage social logins and make the transition from in-app wallets to non-custodial wallets like MetaMask as smooth as possible.
Why is this important? We want to ensure that players can move between different wallet types without feeling like they’re crossing over into uncharted territory. For instance, many players may start with an in-app wallet to quickly get started in the game. Later, as they become more familiar with Web3, they might want to transfer their assets to a non-custodial wallet for more control and security.
Our discussions revolved around finding the perfect balance between ease of use for casual players and providing robust solutions for more experienced Web3 users. We’re confident that the tools Thirdweb provides will help us bridge this gap, making it easy for both casual and hardcore gamers to enjoy Hangry Animals without friction.
Revenue: Pay with Fiat, Pay with Crypto
A major aspect of our build out strategy here is aiming to solve the User Experience woes of paying for passes or in-game items with each. We know there are a shed load of wallet solutions on the market, but we want to control the flow across our ecosystem with ease due to the nature of our liquidity capture initiatives for charitable treasury plans. We're pleased to see Thirdwebs 'Pay' solution has APIs for Fiat and Crypto onramping for players, to be able to alleviate the app hopping situation most experiences are offering today. We will be building our part of our payment solutions with 'Pay' to enable our Fiat, Synthetic FOOD token and Hangry token, tokenomics for a sustainable and growing economy to ensure rewards for players, revenues for our own growth to re-invest as well as our big promise for charitable causes across the ecosystem.
Engine: Clean API Solutions with Webhooks & Endpoints
Another significant milestone this week was our introduction to Engine, Thirdweb’s clean API solution. This was a real highlight for our team as it simplifies how we trigger on-chain interactions for our contracts and products. The system uses webhooks and endpoints to manage these interactions, allowing us to automate key functions within the game.
With Engine’s API, we can set up real-time triggers for actions like token minting, asset transfers, and gameplay-related blockchain events. It’s a huge step forward in making the behind-the-scenes blockchain elements work seamlessly without interrupting gameplay. Our goal has always been to make Web3 integration invisible to the player—Engine’s API brings us much closer to that vision.
Exciting News on Chain Integrations: SKALE Blockchain!
One of the things we’re most excited about this week is the new chains being integrated into Thirdweb’s platform. We’ve been given hints about some of these upcoming integrations, and one that stood out for us is the SKALE Blockchain.
For those unfamiliar, SKALE is a high-performance, decentralized blockchain network designed specifically to support scalable Web3 applications. The possibilities here are immense—whether it’s enhancing transaction speeds, lowering costs, or increasing the flexibility of in-game economies. With SKALE’s integration, we’ll be able to offer an even better experience for our players by eliminating bottlenecks that can occur on more congested chains. Oh did we mention SKALE is a gasless solution utilising their sFUEL token to validate on chain transitions through verified project sources. The security implications and verified gas savings around what SKALE has built are incredible. Go check them out: https://skale.space
Modular Contracts & Account Factory: What’s Coming Next?
Another big reveal from Thirdweb was the introduction of modular contracts and the Account Factory for in-app wallets. We’ve only seen hints of what’s to come, but the future looks promising. These modular contracts will allow us to plug and play new features without needing to overhaul the entire system.
One of the modules we’re particularly excited about is the upcoming minter royalties and royalty splitting capabilities. This will enable us to set up a more dynamic and fair revenue-sharing model for creators, players, and collaborators within the Hangry Animals ecosystem. Innovations like these make us confident we’re building not just a game but a sustainable, long-term digital economy.
Email & Social Login Workflows: Streamlining Onboarding
We wrapped up the week by working on email and social login workflows for the Hangry Animals game. This is crucial for ensuring that our players have a smooth onboarding experience from day one. Whether a player logs in using their email, Google, or another social account, they will be instantly set up to play without any of the usual Web3 hassles.
Thirdwebs frontend toolkit is invaluable for creators and front end devs who are looking for seamless solutions to integrate into their projects...
We’ve implemented these workflows into the game’s backend, and we’re thrilled with how smoothly everything is running. Not only does it simplify the login process, but it also lays the foundation for future integrations with external wallets and other Web3 tools as our players become more engaged with the game’s economy.
Cross-Chain Gaming with LayerOneX: The Future of Interoperability
Our work didn’t stop with Thirdweb this week. We also had two incredibly productive follow-up conversations with LayerOneX, a project that’s pushing the boundaries of cross-chain gaming and token platforms. They’re building a platform that includes everything from a decentralized exchange (DEX) to a marketplace, with built-in token management capabilities.
LayerOneX’s vision aligns perfectly with where we see Hangry Animals going—creating a truly cross-chain ecosystem where players can move their assets freely between games and platforms without barriers. Keep an eye on this space, as we’re already brainstorming ways to collaborate with LayerOneX to bring even more value to our community.
Andrometa: The Future of Avatars & Digital Identity
This week, we also connected with the awesome team over at Andrometa. And let us tell you, what they’re working on is next-level! They’ve developed their own 3D model standard for avatars that are playable game assets. These avatars aren’t just static representations; they’re dynamic, customizable, and fully integrated with the gaming world and social media.
Imagine becoming your in-game avatar across platforms, not just in Hangry Animals but across social media, live streams, and other digital spaces. The potential here for cross-platform digital identities is incredible, and we’re eager to see where this collaboration could go in the future.
Hangry Animals: A Step Closer to Trademarked IP
Finally, on the legal front, we’re excited to announce that Hangry Animals is one step closer to becoming a fully trademarked IP! Our filings with the USPTO have now been published for final review, marking a significant milestone in our journey.
From day one, we’ve been committed to building Hangry Animals organically, step by step, with a strong foundation of wholesome fun and purpose. This trademark process is a crucial part of protecting the brand we’ve worked so hard to build, and we can’t wait to officially stamp our name on the global stage.
Stay Tuned for More Updates!
That’s a wrap for this week’s update. We’ve covered a lot of ground—from technical integrations to exciting new partnerships and major milestones for the Hangry Animals brand. As always, we’re grateful for the continued support from our community, and we can’t wait to share more exciting developments in the weeks to come. We have a demo day with the Thirdweb Gamers cohort to showcase our sprint progress to a group of chains and VCs on the 19th of September, so we’ll be documenting our experiences and sharing clips of our integration as we build toward releasing the Game demo to community folks to test.
