Progress, Partnerships, and Play – Hangry Animals Delivers! 2024 Mid Way Roundup

The past six months have been a whirlwind of innovation, partnerships, and progress for Hangry Animals. From forging new alliances to enhancing our game's features and community engagement, we are thrilled to share the highlights of our journey with you.

The Hangry Animals team has been hard at work refining gameplay mechanics and enhancing the core game loop. Our focus has been on the Menu UI and in-game UI elements, aiming to elevate the overall gaming experience. Significant improvements have been made to the visuals, textures, and model assets, balancing weapons and aligning them with our final vision. The demo level now boasts a more realistic and gritty look, with environments and characters fitting seamlessly into these revamped scenes. Our unique 'overcharged' mode, inspired by Marvel and Spiderverse styles, adds a dynamic visual twist when characters are fully loaded with food and Tarbal crystals.

Our characters have undergone significant updates, with high-detail animated series versions and lower-polygon versions optimized for in-game performance. Notably, we decided to use stylized sculpted fur details for the bear and gorilla characters instead of a fur shader, ensuring smooth gameplay without lag. The bear character, Bryland or (Brian), is now battle-ready, and we are diligently animating special attacks for each character to deliver a customised and engaging gameplay experience.

Drawing inspiration from games like Overwatch, Fortnite, and GTA, we've been crafting a user experience that is both fun and visually appealing. Our design language blends retro elements from the 80s and 90s with modern twists. Key UI elements under development include the main menu, settings, character customizer, and level loading transitions inspired by Helldivers 2. These enhancements are set to provide an immersive and intuitive user experience.

Hangry Animals features an array of in-game pickups and collectibles designed to add fun and chaos to the gameplay. Notable weapons include the Cobbinator 3000, Sausage Nunchucks, and rocket-launching Zucchini antlers. Our light-hearted approach to combat, inspired by Earthworm Jim and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, ensures balanced and engaging gameplay that keeps players coming back for more, simply to see how it all unfolds.

We were excited to announce a ground breaking partnership with INVO earlier this year, a platform dedicated to increasing player engagement and retention. This collaboration aims to establish a connected network of studios committed to fostering a vibrant gaming community. Additionally, our recent partnership with StreamNFT, Performit Live and others leverages advanced NFT technologies to enhance community experience and future game asset management. StreamNFT’s platform allows NFT holders to rent out their assets, maximizing utility and providing continuous revenue streams.

Hangry Animals has been proudly supporting the Salty Sharks Uprising (SSU) project, which uses Web3 to democratize participation in conservation efforts. SSU offers gamified experiences and educational platforms to engage audiences in the conservation of endangered sea life. In celebration of World Wildlife Day, we highlighted technological innovations in wildlife conservation, combining Web3 technology and gamified education to advance conservation efforts and support animal welfare charities. We're excited to see the progress the team at SSU you made in conferences across Australia providing virtual aquarium experiences for schools to educate pupils on the wonders and plight of sea life across the globe.

The CHET Membership Pass sold out, offering numerous benefits including a redeemable Hangry Animal NFT during the pre-sale, a unique 3D character skin (CHET), and a 3D rigged poseable asset for usage inside and outside of games. Early holders will also receive a custom dynamic trait illustrated by Hangry OG Andy. Additionally, we have launched a test batch of merchandise co-created by our resident artist and community members via Discord, reflecting our commitment to community-driven projects. The HAG owl and Fynn Shark T-Shirts will become available real soon to the public. Revenue splits for these items will be discussed with the co-creators too! We're nice like that 😃
