HODLCEO becomes UncleHODL

It’s time for a change... one that reflects not just where we’ve been, but where we’re headed as a community. I’m excited to announce that I’ll be rebranding from HODLCEO to UncleHODL. This isn’t just about a new name, though; it’s a shift in the vibes and vision that better aligns with my role and what we’re building here together.

When I first took on the title HODLCEO, it was a choice made out of necessity. I wanted something short, memorable, and functional. My focus was on a name that people could associate with HODLHQ quickly and easily, and at the time, the idea of being a “CEO” felt fitting. But as the years passed, I began to notice something: there’s an aversion to that kind of corporate, “suit and tie” energy in the decentralized space. After all, part of the ethos of decentralization is about removing hierarchies like CEOs and cutting out the middlemen.

Why the Change?

Let’s be real... I was never the “boss” of HODLHQ. I’ve never viewed myself as the one in charge, giving orders. Instead, I’ve always seen my role as more of a caretaker—someone willing to keep the flame alive until HODLHQ reaches its full potential. The idea of being an Uncle fits perfectly: someone who’s here to support the next generation, hodling the torch until others are ready to light their own.

Another reason for the change is personal. As I get older, it’s clear that the majority of new entrants into the crypto space are younger or around the same age group. I’ve been around long enough to embrace the fact that, in this world, I’m getting classified as “unc”. And you know what? I’m okay with that. It’s a title I’m happy to embrace, especially because it reflects my real mission: to build a community that can last for generations.

A Shift in Energy

The energy shift from CEO to Uncle goes beyond just a name. For the past few years, I’ve noticed a shift in the crypto space as well... people are looking for communities that are more collaborative, less hierarchical, and less corporate. The CEO title, while practical, felt too rigid, too top-down for the decentralized movement we’re all a part of.

HODLHQ is about the long game, about collective ownership, and creating a space where everyone’s contribution matters. By embracing the Uncle role, I’m doubling down on that. I’m here to guide and mentor, not to dictate. This is about passing the torch, helping others find their way, and holding space for future generations to keep building.

What's Next?

So, what’s next for UncleHODL and the HODLHQ community? The vision remains the same: we’re building a community that can stand the test of time, one that doesn’t just react to short-term market movements but is thinking years (maybe even decades) into the future. The UncleHODL rebrand is about leaning into that long-term mindset even further. It’s about building together, fostering collaboration, and ensuring that the values of decentralization stay at the heart of what we do.

Now, more than ever, I want to focus on helping each of you develop your own long-term plans for your on-chain experiences. How do you see yourself contributing to the future of this space? What are you hodling for?
