Denial of Service...

The arms race to engineer via API and marketing aperture AI into every piece of code is on. Whether be browser extension, browser, website, SaaS, app, dapp, protocol, software, firmware, bitware, malware, wetware, the instantiation of neural nets blanketing every inching bit striving to survive and keep apace, nothing by human convention is a sacred technological cow during this era of artificial arming.

Least of all the tools we use to build, what we build - seemingly why we build does indeed get lost and that is definitely for another conversation. Albeit, from search, image-creation, sound engineering, site-building, text-to-infinity does seem inevitable.

However, text-to-will is still a fleshy analogue. To understand the tools, to comprehend the rules before bending to break them...certainly, the ability to filter out the most useful to least useful could in fact beg the prompt:

"Please provide me the most state of the art filtering tool that is both advanced and stable to manage the proliferation of current AI tools available on the web - thank you !"

It will be best to practice aggression, pragmatism and caution pursuing a tensor web. Just as not all data deserves to be on a blockchain just as not all of our cellular data exists as a nucleotide, we can apply the same temperament to artificial intelligence.

We must always wield the last inch of the tool or be condemned to become one.

Brave Spotlight

Edward Snowden began his whistle-blowing tour in the spring of 2014. January 2016, Brave goes live. Coincidence? Does it matter? The first browser built for the 21st-century:

  1. privacy

  2. anti-tracking

  3. ad-pragmatic

  4. token-incentivization

  5. built-in vpn

  6. built-in TOR (The Onion Router)

This week, I walk you through with the aid of thirdWeb now to construct an ERC-4907 token, aka, a rentable NFT. Again, click here to access the tutorial via Charmverse (web3 Notion).

Rentable NFTs are an interesting concept if you first consider where NFTs have moved in terms of utility. The ability to refactor and reuse NFTs as a security functionary rather than the 'flex' of mere ownership is perhaps a clearer practicality to consider. Temporary gating might be a very useful application in an internet world of temporary roles.

Books Podcast

No books this week. However, this piece of media is a welcome and high-demanded one for awhile in the space. Balaji now has his own podcast and is captain of the proverbial 'Network State' vessel. Appropriately, his first guest is Ethereum architect, Vitalik Buterin.

High on the technical side yet done with a friendly and welcoming cadence between the two of them.

Business

KPI tools in web3; what does that look like, do they better embrace the ethos by paradoxically increasing the atomization of performance at a more refined, liquid and diligent state?

SourceCred = a soulbound reputation metric tool for rewarding contribution of individuals in communities using their 'grain' token system.

DeWork = Web3-native project management with token payments, credentialing, bounties

Collab.land = enhances DAO's and traditional decentralized communities via Discord by protecting them with NFT-as-architecture security, vis-a-vis token-gating.

Charmverse = as highlighted in last weeks newsletter, it cannot be understated, that the ability to create bespoke Performance Tools with native web3 integration leverages custom more than the aforementioned.

Upcoming...

In our next issue, we will spotlight Pinata🪅, have a surprise build featuring a few different tools, look into this Ordinal thing and OG NFTs!

Thank you for reading. Have a great and productive week!
