The Inspiration
One thing I struggle with as a leader is fun and intentional creativity.
Typically what I find fun, others do not.
Or they do, just in different environments / context.
Easy example: my wife likes to go to NBA games...I like to enjoy them from the comfort of our couch. 😇
In the spirit of working on my ability to:
join others in fun
be creative
do so out of my comfort zone
I am participating in #ForgeDAO 's Norse / Viking character development and story telling.
I think this is a great way for me to craft fun as @ForgeBSC is part of @WolfDenLabs' ecosystem of published projects which I'm involved with.
The Motivation
There are really three motivations for this endeavor.
1. Intentional Creativity
As a leader, or really just a human, we can get stuck in a rut pretty easily. Doing the same old thing over and over.
In other words, staying within our comfort zone (which is not to be confused with staying in one's lane or play your game).
As a leader, I can be a better creator. A leader that contributes more than he consumes.
I believe creativity and adding value to the world goes hand-in-hand with being a leader whether it be in your own business or someone else's company.
2. Support ForgeDAO Web3 Community
I'm in several Web3 and blockchain communities. The ones I'm typically a part of are doing something to:
A. Connect humans with one another
B. Connect humans to the blockchain
C. Hold up a mirror so the human can see themselves, becoming aware of where they need to get better
As I mentioned above, one of the areas I need to get better is in my creativity.
It was a huge part of my life when I was a growing up exploring the fantasy worlds of Dungeons and Dragons, Lord of the Rings, EverQuest, and even my childhood favorite Choose Your Own Adventure books.
During my early years as an adult when I was a professional musician; I was by default creative.
Several of my close friends and business colleagues today would argue that I am in fact still creative in my current roles...I have to be in order to innovate and lead people well. They'd probably be right.
But somewhere along the way I lost some of that "fun" spark. That "just because" reason. That "screw it let's do it" impromptu-ness that seems to dwindle as you age.
So when the idea was being batted around the ForgeDAO Warden's group about bringing the community together around Viking avatars and spirit animals. I thought it was a sound opportunity for me to be intentionally creative and forge deeper relationships while hopefully forming new ones.
3. Move Closer to What Matters Most (to me and my family)
I also believe that as you build your business, you can change your life, and impact your world. (However big or small your world may be).
Sometimes this comes in obvious ways, such as through the direct relationships we steward. And other times this comes indirectly through people you may never actually meet, but somehow you have a connection with, based upon the value you added to their life.
J. Storey's Northern Legends series is more than just a passion project – it's a way to make a positive impact on the world while sharing epic stories that inspire readers.
Join me on this journey and let's move closer to what matters most to us, both in our personal lives and beyond.
