Hi friends,

Welcome to another edition of the hidden gems, where I share exciting onchain art, trends, and content that caught my eye over the past week.

In this issue, I'll be focusing on Rodeo.club, a new social app created by the team behind Foundation that is starting to see solid traction. Kayvon, founder of Foundation was a guest on my podcast. From that conversation, I learned that they are intensely focused on onchain art innovation, in whatever form it may take... It’s no surprise, then, to see a disruptive app like this emerging.

🐴 App of the Week

Rodeo.Club Starting to Show Traction

So, how does Rodeo work?

  • Anyone can create an onchain piece.

  • Anyone can collect it within the first 24 hours; after that, the minting period closes.

  • Everything is priced at approximately $0.30 with unlimited editions.

  • When someone mints after seeing your mint on the timeline, in your collection, or through your referral link, you earn a referral fee (around $0.08).

  • The app includes social media features like comments and has an Instagram-like feel.

  • Rodeo.Club is currently accessible by invite only.

Over the past week, ±400 unique minters per day have been using Rodeo.

The future direction of the app remains uncertain, but it’s already showing signs of being highly engaging and addictive. Numerous well-known artists and collectors in the Web 3 space, particularly from the generative and AI art segments, have been actively using the app (keep reading for some hot mints). However, there’s been some vocal concern about the potential devaluation of digital art due to the app’s nearly free price point.

It's unclear what direction the team will take from here, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see features such as a secondary market (I’m surprised not many offers have been sent on alternative marketplaces) or options for flexible pricing and edition settings.

Overall, I’ve been enjoying the experience of minting on the app, and my collection is now nearing 80 pieces.

People seem to like the Rodeo as ±75% come back.

So far, 628 creators have collectively earned 2.86 ETH, while 1,168 collectors have earned 0.82 ETH through referral mints. Additionally, the Rodeo protocol itself has generated 1.93 ETH.
