At the heart of Karma GAP’s new impact measurement feature is the adoption of the Common Approach Framework, a flexible and widely recognized standard in the traditional grants world. This framework eliminates confusion around what to track and how to measure it, providing a simple yet powerful structure for impact assessment. By integrating this methodology, Karma GAP ensures that program managers, builders, and capital allocators—such as grant managers and hackathon organizers—can align their efforts with clear, meaningful metrics. The tool’s user-friendly interface allows users to configure Activities and Outcomes tailored to their program goals, creating a logical framework for measurement that is both accessible and effective.

Karma GAP’s impact measurement tool is designed to cater to a diverse range of projects, supporting both software and non-software initiatives. For software-related projects, builders can seamlessly connect their work to platforms like OSObserver, Dune, and GitHub. By submitting their OSO profile ID, contract addresses, or GitHub repositories, builders allow Karma GAP to automatically track outputs such as commits, pull requests merged, and other developer activities. The platform then translates these outputs into outcomes, such as increased user onboarding or growth in on-chain economies, visualized through intuitive graphs like those displaying “Developer Activity” and “Number of Txns” over time. For non-software projects, the tool accommodates manual data entry, enabling builders to log metrics like the number of events hosted, developers trained, or participants engaged, ensuring flexibility across project types.

The impact measurement process follows a clear flow: funding leads to activities, which produce outputs, ultimately driving outcomes and measurable indicators. For example, when a builder is funded, they might hire developers, write code, or deploy smart contracts—activities that Karma GAP tracks as direct results of the investment. These activities generate outputs, such as code commits or merged pull requests, which in turn contribute to broader outcomes like user adoption or economic growth on a blockchain. Indicators, such as “1,000 users onboarded” or “growing total value locked (TVL),” quantify success and provide tangible evidence of impact. This structured approach ensures that every step is transparent and data-driven.

Add a new activity or outcome for each impact.

Karma GAP’s integration with external platforms and its support for manual inputs create a comprehensive ecosystem for impact tracking. Program managers can define specific Activities and Outcomes aligned with their goals, while builders benefit from automated data syncing for software projects and straightforward manual reporting for others. The tool’s flexibility is further enhanced by its ability to handle custom indicators, allowing users to create and track metrics tailored to their unique needs, such as the number of transactions or developer engagement levels.

The launch of this tool is already in beta testing with select partners, and Karma is inviting capital allocators and grant operators to explore how it can transform impact tracking. By connecting the dots from funding to real-world impact, Karma GAP offers a powerful solution for ensuring accountability and demonstrating value in the grants ecosystem.
