Let's delve into the essential details about Mark Zuckerberg's latest creation:

1. Purpose: Threads serves as a text-based conversation app for Instagram.

2. Access: You can conveniently log in to Threads using your Instagram account. This aspect poses a potential challenge to Twitter, as it encourages users to explore the app and facilitates data transfer between the two platforms.

3. Post Features: As shared by Andrew Hutchinson, an insider, posts on Threads can span up to 500 characters. Additionally, users can include links, photos, and videos lasting up to five minutes.

4. Feed Algorithm: The feed algorithm in Threads draws upon an AI-driven discovery approach similar to that employed by other platforms like TikTok and Reels. This means you will encounter numerous posts from accounts you do not follow.

5. Availability: However, Threads will not be immediately accessible in the European Union due to concerns surrounding compliance with privacy regulations. Consequently, those in Europe eager to join the bandwagon will need to exercise patience.

Anticipating the Impact on Twitter

It will be fascinating to observe how Threads influences Twitter and whether it manages to lure users away from the platform. Historically, Meta has faced challenges when launching standalone apps. Nevertheless, this time around, they might capitalize on the prevailing discontentment among Twitter users.

Furthermore, Meta has a significant advantage over Twitter in terms of monetizing user engagement. Moreover, they possess an extensive trove of data that the algorithm and advertisers can leverage. Newly launched Threads by Meta is not a rival to Twitter - it is a replacement for Centralized Social media which includes twitter.

Threads is not another type of twitter - the underlying technologies are entirely different.

Threads by Meta is a FediVerse platform which subscribes to the Mastodon Covenant.

The Fediverse comes from two words - Federation (inter-connected) and the Universe (Universal).

The Fediverse is an assembly of multiple servers which share content amongst themselves. This means that your profile on Meta can be shared across multiple federated networks.

At the root of Threads is an Open Source protocol called ActivityPub. What Facebook has done is to build a new social network on top of a Free and Open Source protocol. This is something FOSS communities frown upon but 90% of today's internet runs on Linux - another Free and Open Source Software.

I honestly doubted Transhumanists who believe that the Singularity will come before 2029 but today, I am more convinced that by 2030, WE WILL ENTER THE SINGULARITY, reach AGI and radically EXTEND human life. These are the major drivers of every emerging innovation you see coming up - it is the Transhumanist agenda. Threads is not Twitter's rival - It is the current Twitter's Replacement but I have asked Elon Musk if he will join the Mastodon Covenant - he has no choice at this point.
