I liked it so much I paid for it #002

All of the posts I tipped on Farcaster, April 8 - 14 2025

keccers

Any tips I send out that you feel obliged to round trip go into what I am calling Keccers Tip Fund and will be used to pay out more tips. Your generosity enables further generosity from me. Heartfelt gratitude this week to Leeward and Rob whose kindness I am paying forward!

This week I tipped...

Jenna's sword skills

transaction

Mumufengg for her dream of a world where honest work wins

transaction

BullishSeller for the computers designed to last through civilizational collapse. Not only is this an awesome project, there's a fantastic repository of links to browse at the bottom.

transaction

Limes backed out an entire hypothetical Hyrox p&l statement from a podcast with the founder.

transaction

July saw to the core of my soul with this meme about laundry. Real and true.

transaction

Crunella wrote this cast I could hear — and genuinely made me laugh out loud.

transaction

Frdysk shows everyone the proper way to log a run.

transaction

Elle's beautiful 404 page led me to a deep dive on her blog, and an even deeper dive into the role of empathy in creative work. Do you have to feel as others do to produce meaningful things?

transaction

Stencil's clear eyes about our content machines

transaction

Duane's stat on how people looking for information on how to apply to grad school get it — the answer shocked me.

transaction

7858's conception of Farcaster as a tree fort for nerds was apt and also a reminder nothing gold can stay.

transaction

Alex for the chart that showed how much better life will be if someone else who isn't me goes to work in the factories.

transaction

Couldn't resist subsidizing a little of James' Record Store Day haul

transaction

Leeward for taking a definitive stance on if intelligence is correlated with earnings potential

transaction

I love the chef culture on Farcaster so much, and Stefanie's take on Evelyn's recipe brightened my day. You can just tell there was so much thoughtfulness and care put into this.

transaction

We are so lucky to have gotten Justin over on the Far Side, and this screenshot of a literal mailbox for e-mail made my eyes green with jealousy. I would kill to have this interface instead of a red dot. I think I would take things more seriously.

transaction

A token of good luck and well-wishes for Ryan's Beatrix Potter-inspired book. I'd love to color this in with my niece one day.

transaction

That's all she wrote folks — tips issued today, April 15th, will be included in next week's recap. Thank you so much for everything, from the belly laughs to moments of true introspection. See you on the timeline!

If you have a post with 10,000 viewers 1% of them tip .50 that’s $50 direct to creator with none of the bad feelings of speculation involved for either party We have all the building blocks for this today but don’t do it because …. ? Too hard to socialize the behavior? Profit motive — trading leads to many more txn for the chains and platforms? Content is actually valueless and no one will ever pay?

We have to work against the platform owners here in some way to do this but I am fully on board (as you know) 🤭 I need to update my crypto tracker but I’ve tipped out at least $300 YTD 💪 Imagine if everyone did like us

there was a feature to send warps from a cast, could see the same feature come back with USDC as the currency

could you wanna make a cast action that does this, as a trial of how many ppl would actually opt in and do this regularly? it would be three clicks instead of two (and some setup), but still prolly a good experiment to run

@jc4p had a cool idea for one where if it notices you’re liking on someone a lot, toss em a teeny coin or smth I’m open to anything

It’s not a VC-scale business and therefore the best software builders ignore it.

keccersFarcaster
keccers
Commented 3 weeks ago

But that is far from the only source of revenue for a social business Forget Zora On here WC already is monetizable by - swaps - storage - new user accounts - advertising (like airdrop program) - token (the investors here surely have fat warrants, will mint off of retail chuds when that drops) no need to bilk us here

It was already implemented (Warps tipping) and then disappeared... Not sure why, I liked it.

$50 per 1k is 0.05 CPM if a typical online person views 1000 things in a day that would mean they’d need to spends $18,250 per year

keccersFarcaster
keccers
Commented 3 weeks ago

But you don’t have to tip all 1000 things you see? Half it? Hell, even 1/4 of that would be good given how little 10k views is

sloboFarcaster

what content producers earn must equal what content consumers spend it could be that price IS sustainable if people view less than i initially estimated or if not all content is eligible and/or if the platforms subsidize money in = money out

sloboFarcaster

Commented 3 weeks ago

also my math is wrong $5 CPM --> $1,825 / yr

People are actively experimenting with .25 and .10 I think your mental model of people tipping 1k pieces of content a day is wrong, just as much as my example overshot pricing

didn’t we have the warp button at some point? i wonder how that did in terms of numbers either way, i agree. i always enjoyed tipping warps, usdc, anything. a native button to send $0.25 would be fun.

1% hit rate is probably ISANELY HIGH tbh. You look at some of the largest creators on youtube or twitch, which have cultures of giving, and maybe 0.01-0.1% sub or give even once. The content generally doesn't bring value to the people with the money.

Well then we need to be honest about that and stop trying then. Why are we beating a dead horse

Commented 3 weeks ago

hmmmm it’s a little different there for a couple of reasons, one is that twitch and YouTube are long form streaming content in horizontal view at a computer happy to share my POV more

RoyalFarcaster
Royal
Commented 3 weeks ago

I think you could make the same argument for shorts on youtube, or reels on instagram. The content is consumed and then discarded. I am open to hearing what might be off course since you almost def. have more exposure to this than me
