At small to mid-sized it’s usually:
Founders
Engineers
Product
Design
Marketing
Even though the West treats a corporation as an individual, they’re collectives of people. And as things scale you get more departments; human resources, operations, accounting, business development, customer support, legal, etc.
People are messy. They run on patterns and habits, on emotions and intellect, on traumas and hopes. It’s partly why we revere those who can communicate. We love understanding.
Memetics
Memetics aren’t clean. But their results lead to understanding. The internet is rife with memes. Comedy, tragedy, irritation, pleasure… if it’s human, there’s a meme that will likely express it better than words alone. One could argue that memes are the internet’s native linguistic.
But what are memetics?
"Memetics" is a concept in the field of evolutionary biology and cultural studies that treats cultural information as a type of "meme" which can propagate from one individual to another, analogously to the way genes propagate in biological evolution.
Just do it. The Nike Swoosh. These are memes. Transmitting information on the culture that Nike has spent 59 years building… ie. Nike’s memetics.
Now think of Nouns Dao, Zora, and all the novel internet companies leveraging crypto now and in the future. Do you see the dormant value in pursuing memetics more pragmatically?
Department
Much has been joked about the idea guys. And like all good jokes, there are kernels of truth within them.
Picasso said “everything you can imagine is real.” And if I may, the modernized version for the purposes of this essay, equates to:
Everything that has been or will be real, was first imagined
In this light, memetics could be a department adequately positioned to pursue this pipeline of imagination-manifestation. A part of the org chart uniquely attuned to sifting through infinity for the just do it, noggles, zorbs, think different, etc of an internet native company.

.
We’ll examine the different kinds of idea guys next.
