The story of the Oversplatters

If anyone has seen my bio on social media pages, you probably know about this team’s existence. I kinda wanted to tell their story.

Before the Oversplatters

Before I founded the Oversplatters, I was trying my best to be a part of the Splatoon competitive community. I attended a tournament called Low Ink (hosted by Inkling Performance Labs, the most well-known community Splatoon TO) a few times with a team called Sunset.

The founding of the Oversplatters

Me and my friend Willow (formerly known as Daffy or Milo), were trying to come up with ideas to found a new Splatoon team. We were into Overwatch 2 at the time, so I decided to give the team an Overwatch theme and call it Oversplatters. We even got a logo commissioned for the team by an artist named Doom.

How it died

Esports is a hard thing to get into. It seems that I’m better at playing competitive games casually, not being a hardcore esports competitor. So the team slowly died. Also, the people who I had chosen to be members weren’t really into it either. When I was managing to keep schedules they wouldn’t come to trainings and such. So I just abandoned the team. Willow tried to get me back into it a few times while she was still into competitive gaming, but now she’s lost interest in Splatoon (at least in a competitive sense). Honestly I think that this team should become a casual clan (Discord please make guild server creation open to all).
