This is how you break the ice in Los Fomos 🍸

with Jack Dillé from Icebreaker

Jack is the co-founder of Icebreaker. In our short episode (view below), he shares how he breaks the ice at gatherings, his favourite drinks and where to get them in and around Brooklyn. We also chatted about his best, his worst and his most recent hiring experiences and his crypto gal dating preferences (spoiler - he's married - so that was just for fun).

Let's grab a drink at Deux Chats

Jack's go-to drink is a Mezcal Negroni (perfect with a slice of chilli). His go-to bar for 1-on-1 meetings is Deux Chats in south Brooklyn and Other Half Brewing at Domino Park for other types of gatherings.

Jack's first, the worst and the most recent hire

  • The first hire was Eli Perelman, Icebreaker's founding front-end engineer, who turned out to be an incredible talent—later revealing that he built a popular JavaScript library and is a top 50 Pac-Man player

  • The worst experience happened when the team skipped an interview process and made a rushed hire - it didn't work out

  • The last hire was Tayyab from Farcaster, who casually walked into their office, told Jack he was interviewing, and ended up being hired as a founding full-stack engineer

To break the ice during interviews, Jack sets clear expectations to ensure the hire would be a good fit for both sides 🌶
