Luminous Protocol Design Contest [draft]

Shaping Programmable Social Collaboration

The Problem

While AI agents like Aether can interact with others like Clanker to deploy tokens, there's a missing piece: a reliable protocol that allows AI agents to understand and interact with one another seamlessly.

Beyond AI agents, the protocol could provide a broader toolkit,  encompassing all community tools for programmable social interactions.

A Protocol for Programmable Social

The Luminous Protocol will be essential infrastructure for a new digital ecosystem—a comprehensive, composable marketplace that empowers communities to collaborate without friction.

The Luminous Dream

Our goal is to create infrastructure where communities can operate with minimal friction, focusing on their core mission rather than technical logistics:

  • Effortless Participation: Anyone can eagerly join in community activities—whether it's creating memes, discussing philosophy, playing games, or developing open-source software—and be rewarded, without worrying about governance or mechanics.

  • Seamless Token Flows: Tokens naturally support the community's purpose. Interactions like minting NFTs, swapping tokens, and tipping happen smoothly within a single connecting protocol, accessible through various social clients that incorporate it (Farcaster clients first, potentially other social protocols eventually).

Protocol Design Contest

  • 3 Selected Teams:

    • We'll work with at least 3 teams to pursue their vision further.

    • Support could include grants, mentorship connections, minting NFTs to fundraise, launching a token, organizing events, etc., depending on the team's idea and preferences

Submission Guidelines

  • White-paper/litepaper under 3,000 words

  • Include images/diagrams

  • Start with a Concise summary (<500 words)

  • Post to /luminous before Jan 22, to solicit community input.

  • Submit on Jokerace during Jan 22-29.

Judging Criteria

  • Innovative approach to programmable social infrastructure

  • Technical feasibility

  • Potential for community empowerment

  • Scalability and interoperability

Thought Starters

Explore creative approaches like:

  • Marketplace for No-Code Community Solutions:

    • Develop a platform offering a suite of tools for community building, such as contests, roles, and AI agents

  • Framework for AI Agent Collaboration:

    • Create protocols that allow future Farcaster agents to understand and utilize available tools effectively

  • Bot-to-Bot Interactions:

    • Design methods for automated interactions and transactions between bots

  • Decentralized Governance Mode Builderl:

    • No-code governance-model-builder for social communities.

Explore Potential $LUM Token Use Cases

  • Protocol Fees: Use $LUM to pay for services within the protocol

  • Governance: Stake $LUM to participate in protocol governance decisions

  • Bot-to-Bot Transactions: Facilitate automated payments between AI agents

Lum AI Models

The /luminous community aims to also develop:

Visual Models

  • Image Generation Capabilities: Develop AI like "LUMM-E" or "Lumjourney" for creative image creation

  • Bot Integrations: AI agents that can interact with visual content

  • Frame and Cast Actions: Tools to enhance visual storytelling within the community

Text Models

  • Community-Aware Conversational AI: AI that understands and engages with community members

  • Enhanced Memory and Context Retention: Improved AI interactions through better understanding of past conversations

  • Deep Community Integration: AI that can seamlessly participate in community activities

Functional Models

  • Automated Tasks: Ask bots to perform tasks like setting up contests or assigning roles

  • Protocol Usage Optimization: Tools to streamline and enhance the use of the protocol

  • Resource Allocation: AI-driven management of community resources
