Breath: A Rythm All Your Own

A poetic reading meditation for the simplest action we do every minute of our lives and how to utilize it for our own good, wellbeing and mental health.

The one simple act,

We do so well,

Without thought,

Without effort.

Pure breath,

Vital and sacred.

Now,

You are invited to feel it,

To move within the flow,

The motion of your breathing.

Inhale, drawing in life,

Exhale, letting go.

A beautiful dance,

In and out,

Like the ocean’s ebb and flow,

Rhythmic, natural, effortless.

Here,

You are the observer,

Feeling each inhale,

Each exhale.

Air touching your nostrils,

Flowing down your throat,

Filling your chest,

And leaving again,

A perfect rhythm,

Just like waves.

Your breath is your own,

Effortless,

A rhythm that is all you.

Can you feel it?

The rise, the fall,

The soft expansion,

The gentle release.

Where is your awareness drawn?

To your nose,

Your chest,

Your belly,

Or somewhere beyond?

Wherever it is,

Rest there,

Be with your breath,

Fully.

When the mind becomes too active,

Your breath remains,

Always there,

An undercurrent within you,

Constant,

Steady,

No matter how stormy the seas around you.

Inhale,

Exhale,

Flowing,

Rhythmic.

You are simply here,

Feeling the flow,

Sensing the peace that each breath brings.

Can you feel the depth within your breath?

Not just physically,

But the depth of awareness,

The beauty in each subtle detail,

The softness of air moving through you,

The peace it carries.

It is uniquely your own,

Something beyond words,

Something needing no description.

Whatever it is,

Allow it to be.

You’ve gifted yourself moments,

Minutes with your breath.

This is gratitude,

For the sacredness of breathing,

So often forgotten.

Yet in its simplicity,

It brings peace,

Stability,

A deep anchoring within,

Far beyond words.

Now,

I leave you with your breath,

To be with it,

To be in it,

For as long as you need.

No complexity,

No fluff,

Just you,

And the rhythm of your breath,

Feeling its flow,

Being its flow.
