Breathe in deep—
Filling the belly,
Filling the chest.
Hold this fullness for a moment,
Then release it,
A satisfying exhale.
Again, inhale,
Fill up completely,
Hold that beautiful fullness,
Then let it go.
One more breath,
Filling, holding,
Exhaling,
And then your breath returns to its natural rhythm.
Now, turn inward,
Feeling the residue of these breaths,
The quickened heartbeat,
A gentle tingle,
Or perhaps nothing at all.
None of it matters,
Except that you are present,
Here within yourself,
Observing, sensing,
Feeling your inner landscape.
Let your awareness move toward your center,
Wherever it feels right.
There is no perfect place,
Just land where you feel good,
Right here,
In this moment.
Feel what is within,
Without judgment,
Without expectations.
Even if you think you feel nothing,
That too is something.
Embrace whatever is there,
Like a familiar friend.
And when the mind wanders,
With thoughts, lists, doubts,
Return to your body,
Return to that center.
Each time, deeper,
Each time more present.
Guide your breath now,
Into that space,
Inhaling into your center,
Exhaling from your center.
Feel the journey of breath,
Into and out of your core.
No judgment,
Only feeling.
When you’ve had enough,
Let your breath flow as it wishes,
Detach from it,
And be still,
Resting in the residue of your breath,
In your center.
Stay here as long as you need,
Before eventually moving into your day.
