September is here! I love the fall in New England, so I'm never sad to see the summer go.
I know, it’s been awhile since I’ve last written. I’ve been devoting all my time to recording/performing and my new publishing venture. I want to make both of these things work, but neither make much money at present. I've retained some of my client work to keep some money coming in, but I haven't had much time for other projects.
But here’s what I'm really excited about: I'm releasing a new single!
"Blind Spot" was co-written with one of the Boston area's best songwriters, acclaimed Americana artist Bob Bradshaw. This one sounds different than anything I've released so far – you can hear it right now on Patreon rather than waiting until the release date on 9/19. It's for patrons only, so just start a 7-day free trial. It's easy to cancel anytime.
Same goes for Bandcamp; they have a new feature for monthly support. Today is Bandcamp Friday, which means that Bandcamp waives their artist fee on all purchases.
I can't underscore this enough: Fan support is fuel. Everyone knows that a career in music is not sustainable for indie artists any longer. Yes, it's a labor of love, but it's also a ton of effort... and it's expensive: Studio time, hosting fees, equipment maintenance. I hate asking; there's nothing more uncomfortable.
You know that I don't ask often. But if my work has been worthwhile to you at all over the past number of years, I ask you to consider supporting it (if you are able to).
Whatever the case, you are enough. In today's toxic grind culture, we don't hear that as much as we should. Thank you for all you do, in your work and your life!
Sincerely,
Michael
