Phantom 45 presents 'Crook County'

A Jungle/Drum 'n Bass mix series

PHANTOM 45, aka Brian Sarpalius, is a legendary Chicago-based DJ/Producer who began his storied career in 1987. He is well known for championing a unique style of Drum & Bass music with smooth, meticulous mixing. Always one to lay down long blends and proper tune selections in every set, Phantom 45 travels extensively, playing for thousands of people in warehouses, festivals, and club date tours.

Your new mix series for American Junglist is called 'Crook County'. What's up with that?

'Crook County' is a play on words with Chicago being in Cook County and it’s often called Crook because of the way Chicago politicians do business.

What’s the aim of this mix series?

The aim is to reach more listeners plain and simple.

What made you return to DJ'ing after a long hiatus and why did you sell your record collection?

I just one day decided to sell my records, which led to buying a controller to mess around with newer music, which led to taking gigs across the country, which led to diving into music production, which led us to this podcast.

What should the American Junglist audience expect throughout the series?

I’m going for a more underground approach to this mix and future ones. No glitz and glam, just rollers you would commit crimes to.
