Introducing Moebius

The Universal Meta Restaking Protocol

TLDR; Moebius unifies restaking, allowing users to earn tokenized points by depositing into multiple restaking protocols.

Today we unveil Moebius, a novel meta-restaking protocol that unlocks restaking across multiple protocols. Using Moebius anyone can mint liquid restaking tokens (LRTs) across restaking protocols, starting with Karak and EigenLayer.

Problem

EigenLayer has been a pioneer in decentralizing trust for Ethereum, carrying the fast-growing demand to extend cryptoeconomic security to additional applications. Its success has led to a growth in the number of restaking protocols, introducing restaking opportunities beyond ETH and ETH derivatives.

Models like Karak allow Moebius to leverage almost any asset for restaking. In a world with many restaking protocols, fragmentation of restaked assets between the protocols will become a problem. Moebius has built a meta-staking platform that will scale with the restaking protocols of the future - allowing users to access all of the restaking opportunities regardless of any future novel restaking protocols.

Introducing Moebius

As the first unified interface for liquid restaking, Moebius simplifies access to LRTs from different restaking protocols. Each Moebius LRT is backed by a basket of assets, granting users the ability to earn the rewards associated with the underlying deposits.

Introducing the first production-ready Karak LRTs, Moebius will initially launch with 3 LRTs on Karak and 1 on EigenLayer. All the LRTs will be free to further compose throughout DeFi

mokaLST: Moebius’ first ETH-denominated LRT on Karak which will be fully collateralized by a selection of LSTs.

mokaLRT: Moebius’ first ETH-denominated LRT on Karak which will be fully collateralized by a selection of LRTs.

mokaUSD: Moebius’ first USD-denominated LRT on Karak which will be fully collateralized by a selection of USD-denominated assets.

moETH: Moebius’ first ETH-denominated LRT on EigenLayer which will be fully collateralized by native ETH and a selection of LSTs.

Moebius LRTs will combine rewards from staking and restaking while continuing to earn rewards from the underlying LRTs, restaking protocol points (Karak and Eigenlayer points), and Moebius points.

Existing Restaking Landscape

Restaking has been one of the most exciting new primitives, extending crypto-economic security through restaking and validating new applications being built. All major liquid restaking tokens are denominated in ETH native to EigenLayer, quickly growing past $15b in TVL making up over 70% of the TVL of EigenLayer. The emergence of Karak coincided with its rapid growth, currently exceeding $500m in TVL and there are several new restaking protocols on the horizon.

Liquid restaking tokens are novel but are quickly growing to become foundational assets across the entire industry, an asset that is natively yield-bearing and providing the highest potential for yield generation among ETH staking derivatives.

Key innovations enabled by Moebius

Whilst the initial focus will be on Karak and EigenLayer, Moebius will expand to new staking protocols and we expect our LRTs and our infrastructure to act as a compelling base layer for other protocols to build products upon.

Our current infrastructure will allow us to expand quickly to new and exciting restaking protocols while we’re working on novel innovations to unify existing protocols.

Moebius is working with infrastructure providers to provide access to teams looking to build services like rollups using Moebius LRTs. Moebius can help advise and incubate these services including assistance with overall and application-specific deployment of these services.

What’s next?

In the coming weeks, we will be releasing further updates that outline all that Moebius has to offer.
