It’s been almost a year, literally to the hour, since I last shared some music with you. I feel like every year that goes by, I hear more and more people talking about the fact that music has become boring, there’s nothing good coming out anymore and so on. It’s all bullshit, I tell them. Case in point, Ted Gioia’s list, which I discovered through Tyler Cowan. The vast majority of the albums on Ted’s list are albums and artists I’ve never even heard. I don’t like all of it, but a lot of it is really great. Everyone needs people like Ted to help show the path to great music. Maybe I’m that person for a few of you. That would be awesome. It’s often difficult to share music with people as listening has become so personal. Sure, we listen out loud in our homes, but walking around in the world, we are often looking down at our devices with something playing in our ears. This list is how I share. I’ve been doing it in some form — physical, then digital downloads and now playlists on streaming services. So goes the music world. I wish you all the happiest of holidays and a new year (and decade!) filled with peace, love and great music.
Oh, yeah... you can listen to this year’s playlist on Spotify or Apple Music. As always, I put a lot of time and thought into the flow, so it would make me happy if you enjoyed it, at least once, in it’s intended sequence. Let me know what you think and if you’re inclined, let me know what you’ve been up to.
