Manufacturing companies exploring metaverse to transform the sector

Cognitive technologies, robotics, automation, 3D printing, edge computing and metaverse etc. have potential to transform entire value manufacturing value chain.

Manufacturing sector, historically, is slow to adopt new technologies. However, innovators of this sector have started investing in VR, AR and digital twins.

Manufacturing companies can greatly benefit from strategically incorporating metaverse in its production, operations and management. Metaverse provides opportunities for remote collaboration, 3D visualization of operating floors and marketing. Incorporating metaverse will help industries to streamline value chain, increase operational efficiency, collaboration and supply chain resilience. Management leaders will gain greater perspective on the business operations, people and machine management.

Although most of the technologies to gain full potential of metaverse for manufacturing industries needs further maturity, a lot of retail, automobile and beverage companies have already started experimenting with metaverse.

Automaker Bentley and BMW have already using NVIDIA’s Omniverse to create digital twins of their vehicle manufacturing facilities. Boeing is reportedly working with Microsoft to use the metaverse to design aircraft, improve aircraft engineering, and prevent manufacturing issues.

We will greater adoption of metaverse by manufacturing companies in the coming years.
