Urban Fabric

1/365 - Funchal, signs, windows and balconies

The 14th May seems like a good time to start a kind of 365 but I won’t make a new image each day, these will a mix of old and new

The rustic streets of Funchal

Hello there and I would like to say a special hello to an old friend of mine who has just signed up for the newsletter and today you’re in for a treat. I’ve got back into photography recently after a short break and have decided to curate more of the world around me one photo at a time, especially for this community “Urban fabric”, where I get into the nitty gritty of what makes a town or city the place it is. The fabric of a place as I like to think of it, the bricks and mortar, the people that keep it ticking.

Tell you what I’ve been having a lot of fun shooting with the little Ricoh GR3x this week whilst in Madeira, I absolutely love it. I even feel comfortable taking photos of people with it, they seem a lot more accommodating too. Technically the lens is lovely, crisp, faithful colours, I am doing less editing with my photos. I have been shooting with RAW and Positive Film JPEG mode and straight off the camera, as with today’s photo, no tweaks at all. Now that is lovely.

My rucksack is smaller this trip as I’ve left my Sony system at home, bringing the Ricoh and the Insta360 x3 (more on that another time, another post, spoiler, its great too).

I will be putting these images up as NFTs at some point but as ever, you can collect these posts as NFTs, which helps fund my projects, for which I am very thankful for any support.
