Contango User Experience

Contango is one of many decentralized perpetual protocols which are available for use.

As a perpetuals protocol, the interface is straight forward and similar to other protocols out there (Aevo, Logx). You can choose to be bullish, bearish, or use these options to hedge other bags. In this article, I tested the app by opening a long.

The protocol is using fully on-chain liquidity. This is evident when you select which pool you are using for margin. I chose Arbitrum, and Lodestart since they have solid fundamentals.

Before you open a long, you are given an option to set a take profit or stop loss to avoid manually managing the long.

You are given a nice trade summary right before you commit.

Overall experience:

Pros:

  1. Straightforward and familiar interface.

  2. Clear and informative interface about the borrowing pools

  3. Nice automation available.

  4. No fees for now (will be added later).

Cons:

  1. Leverage a bit lower than other platforms due to reliance on existing liquidity pools. Could be a plus or minus depending on how you think about it.

  2. No option to provide liquidity directly on Contango. I imagine this may come as an option in the future as well.

Overall an enjoyable trading experience, and a good intro for a newbie to perps (like me).
