Hi, and welcome to issue 10 of NFT Matrix, where I review NFT Artists’ work. There is no presumption or judgement here, only exposure. The artist I am reviewing is Cryptonatrix from Los Angeles, CA. Creative and up-front is how I would characterize their work. I look at a couple of the artist’s pieces from their various platforms/social media and provide my review. Hope you enjoy, I’m always open to feedback.
Piece: “#trashart”

There is a phenomenon of “trash art” across the crypto art world. This usually consists of trash can gifs or pics. This piece goes along with that tradition, but also includes a nod to the neon ‘Girls Girls Girls’ signs. It switches up the gender, and the commentary of the piece reflects this idea of men diving into a dumpster to find…depravity/debauchery? This is interesting to me given the explosion of pornography since the creation of the internet, and the fact that all across the country you can find signs like this for strip clubs. We have at once a puritanical and completely openly sexual culture.

The combination of arresting visuals and poetry makes this piece pretty haunting. Strong emotions are present, as well as a contrast between the static and motion. The piece captures really well what it feels like to be numb/burnt out after feeling helpless and angry.
Piece: “Eat the Rich”

This piece forces me to reflect on what different generations feel about the wealth gap in the US. Evidently this piece refers to macrophilia? There is also a feeling of cynicism present which captures the mixed emotions I think people have regarding Amazon.
