Hi, and welcome to issue 12 of NFT Matrix, where I review NFT Artists’ work. There is no presumption or judgement here, only exposure. The artist I am reviewing is Shaylin Wallace from Wilmington, Delaware. Dream-like and thought-provoking is how I would characterize their work. I look at a couple of the artist’s pieces from their various platforms/social media and provide my review. Hope you enjoy, I’m always open to feedback.
Piece: “The Lost City”
Link: KnownOrigin
I love this idea of the lost city. It hearkens back to stories about Atlantis - ancient civilizations lost to the sea. The idea that in the future, someone could go for a dive trip and marvel and wonder and what civilization was like before the “Great Flood” is a bit haunting. It could refer to a literal flood due to rising sea levels. It could also refer to a metaphorical ‘lost city’ - one forgotten due to a change in where people live and work. Chicago specifically could be referred to as a lost city due to the inequality and crime. Either way, the layers of thought possible and the imagery are very well done.
Piece: “Still Between”
Link: Makersplace
This piece captures how I’ve felt, how many have felt during this pandemic and in life. Somewhere between land and sky, reality and fantasy. The muted landscape and colors are reminiscent of an Arizona sky at dusk. I’m sure we all flow between feeling grounded and being in the sky. Very interesting piece.
Piece: “Stellar Goddesses”
Link: Async Art
This piece synchronizes with the time of day and switches between Stellar Goddess and Cosmic Consciousness. You’ll have to explore async art to see the other piece! Either way, I really like that this piece has another dimension to it (technically its a 4 dimensional piece). The colors and the confidence of the focus of the piece is enjoyable. There is a sci-fi feel which reminds me of Star Trek.
Well, I hope you enjoyed this brief introduction to Shaylin Wallce! Find their links here.
