Hi, and welcome to issue 2 of NFT Matrix, where I review NFT Artists’ work. There is no presumption or judgement here, only exposure. The second artist I am reviewing is Dusty Kessler, from St. Louis, Missouri (currently based in LA). Visceral and emotional is how I would describe his work. I look at a couple of his pieces from his various platforms/social media and provide my review. Hope you enjoy, I’m always open to feedback.
Piece: “Gabber”

To experience the full power of the piece, it’s necessary to view it on opensea. The subject of the photograph is Miguel, an R&B artist of “Sky Walker” fame. You can see the power and vitality of Miguel in the photograph. The effects added to the photo make it seem as if the artist is sharing or giving up pieces of himself. The black and white forces you to focus on the subject and their energy. Even without the digital effects, the image is powerful due to the kinetic nature of the subject.
Piece: “Funeral”
Link: opensea
This piece is from a spontaneous moment on the “Funeral” music video for Miguel according to Mad Gallery. The video itself is already sensual and dark, and the music is a bit grimy/techno + Michael Jackson. This still image creates a landscape of flesh and excess. In this photo, the black and white forces the viewer to look for and notice additional details. The masks are much like the ones from a masquerade in “Phantom of the Opera”. This piece could epitomize the gilded age which is coming, or some could say already came.
Piece: “Currently in Arizona”

A good majority of Dusty’s photography consists of lively photos of musicians and celebrities. He is an observer of the icons of our age. Yet, interspersed with these pieces are photos like this of still moments. He has some landscape photography as well. This photo conjures meditation on what it means to be an observer or the observed.
Well, I hope you enjoyed this brief introduction to Dusty! Find him on:
He’s also got an upcoming drop 2/25 on KnownOrigin!
See you next week!
