Hi, and welcome to issue 22 of NFT Matrix, where I review NFT Artists’ work. There is no presumption or judgement here, only exposure. The artist I am reviewing is Once Upon a Crypto. Cinematic and Tarantino-esque is how I would describe their work. I look at a couple of the artist’s pieces from their various platforms/social media and provide my review. Hope you enjoy, I’m always open to feedback.
Piece: “#01. Jumpsuit”
All these pieces are animated. The artist is creating an animated film about making a new society. The animation is highly detailed and breathtaking. The signs and architecture are reminiscent of a major urban area like New York City. The animation is an endless loop of the person in the middle falling, which also reminds me of the individual photographed jumping from the Two Towers on 9/11. I think there is commentary here on the rat race and capitalism.
Piece: “#02. Ascension”
This piece feels like a commentary on how concerts are places of elevation, worship, consumerism and social interaction. The pyramid in the middle lowers down into the crowd and seems to reference the eye and pyramid symbolism of Illuminati. Hands offer nature as a sacrifice, and are adorned with gold. Very engaging and interesting scene.
Piece: “#01”
This piece is of some sort of bounty hunter or assassin character - looks a lot like a vampire. There are references to unidentified aerial phenomena, and the character has been bruised. Looks like there may have been an altercation before this scene, or a murder. I see artifacts like routers, TVs, Christianity, dartboards, and urban backgrounds. I am excited to see how this film turns out if these pieces are any indication.
Well, I hope you enjoyed this brief introduction to the artist! Find their links here.
See you next time! I’ve been finding it hard to write these every week, but am aiming for once a month.
