Hi, and welcome to issue 4 of NFT Matrix, where I review NFT Artists’ work. There is no presumption or judgement here, only exposure. The fourth artist I am reviewing is Jahmel Reynolds, from LA, CA. Visually arresting and introspective is how I would characterize his work. I look at a couple of his pieces from his various platforms/social media and provide my review. Hope you enjoy, I’m always open to feedback.
Piece: “You Will Feel”

This piece reminds me of the human condition. We can put off our emotions for only too long, we will feel. The colors of this piece are bright and mesmerizing, which contrast with the expression of horror on the face of the entity. Going along with Jah’s science fiction theme, I could see this being a robot who finally “feels”.
Piece: “Exist”

This piece makes a statement about beauty and power. The model is confident, and Jah captures her strength perfectly. The juxtaposition of such power and a puffy cloud provides a playful setting to think about other depictions of angels in art (as well as the concept of an angel). The soft colors contribute to this being an enjoyable piece to observe and think about.
Piece: “the only truth is Perspective”

This piece has amazing use of contrast and color. There is something incredibly brutalist about the old school PC. Contrasted with the human body, and the sky behind, the computer is soulless and empty. The title makes one ponder the nature of reality, and how eerie it is to see a human face replaced by the blank void of a computer. We probably are more computer than human these days. Are our screens blank, or is there more going on?
Well, I hope you enjoyed this brief introduction to Jahmel! Find him on:
