Hi, and welcome to issue 6 of NFT Matrix, where I review NFT Artists’ work. There is no presumption or judgement here, only exposure. The artist I am reviewing is the Tim Riopelle from Vancouver, BC. Multi-dimensional and engaging is how I would characterize the work. I look at a couple of the artist’s pieces from their various platforms/social media and provide my review. Hope you enjoy, I’m always open to feedback.
Piece: “Honey”
Link: Known Origin
The artist describes this piece as intending to promote relaxation. I can’t agree more with his intent - the tones are calm, and the background and shapes are pleasing to the eye. The shape reminds me of an alien spacecraft or futuristic Chihuly. The colors give off the feeling of the peak of a warm sunny day.
Piece: “ALGORITHM”
Link: website
This piece is dystopian and cinematic. The phone user seems enmeshed in the dark layers of the web. The network appears to be given life by or feeding off the user. The orb could also be an outgrowth or cancer from the user’s inputs. This background could be cyberspace visualized - it reminds me of the inside of a big data center.
Piece: “LifeGuard”
Link: Insta
This piece looks like a fleet of ʻOumuamua coming to invade the earth. This scene is biblical in its scale and hearkens back to the splitting of the Red Sea. This would be a great album cover for a prog rock/death tech band.
Well, I hope you enjoyed this brief introduction to Tim Riopelle! Find his links here.
