The Pursuit of Excellence

A Musician's Lifelong Quest for Perfection

As a musician, I have strived for perfection my entire life. Yet, it has always eluded me. Naturally, I tried repeatedly. These words have always stayed with me: they left an indelible impression on me. Verdi was already an accomplished musician at 18. At that age, I had no idea what I wanted to become (the only thing I was certain of was that I wouldn't succeed in exporting cotton textiles). At 18, I was as immature, inexperienced, and naive as all eighteen-year-olds are. Only 15 years later, in my early thirties, did I realize where my place was. And then I decided that, regardless of who I would be in this life, Verdi's words would remain my guiding star, and even in old age, I would not give up. I resolved to strive for perfection, knowing full well that it would always elude me.

TIP OF THE DAY. Strive for excellence in your work, knowing that it will always elude you.
